MINUTES OF SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING CITY OF TOMBALL, TEXAS TUESDAY, MARCH 25, 2014 5:00 P.M. 1.0 Call to Order The Council meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Mayor Gretchen Fagan. Other members present were: Councilman Hudgens Councilman Stoll Councilman Degges Councilman Townsend Councilman Dodson Others present: City Manager – George Shackelford Assistant City Secretary – Betsy Gates Finance Director – Glenn Windsor Community Development Director – Craig Meyers City Planner – Rebeca Guerra City Engineer – Lori Lakatos Assistant City Planner – Rodney Schmidt 2.0 The following public comments were received: Dan Adkisson - As a certified state appraiser he is in opposition 500 Inwood, 77375 of allowing construction on 25’ lots. It would hurt the value of remaining residential properties. Mike Ott - Allowing construction of housing on a 25’ will Via email create an eyesore and low rent housing in the near future. Opposed to building on 25’ lots. 3.0 New Business: 3.1 The Tomball City Council entered into a Workshop Session regarding proposed amendments to Section 34.4 (“Area Regulations for Residential Uses”) of the City’s Zoning Ordinance (Ordinance No. 2008-01) by creating non-conforming lot regulations Minutes Special City Council Meeting March 25, 2014 Page 2 of 2 for lots within that portion of the Old Town Area bounded by Fannin Street, Houston Street, the railroad tracks, and Pine Street, and including the lots that front on Fannin Street and Houston Street adjacent to such portion. Staff report was presented by Rebeca Guerra. Further public comments: Jennifer Casalino - She rents the house from Ms. Dermaux –she 209 Houston Street, 77375 likes the house. It feels big inside and is modern and has a nice yard. Monique Dermaux - Presented a slide presentation showing the 2531 Cherry Street, 77375 house that she had constructed on one of the three 25’ lots she owns on Houston Street Jim Streiner - He lives in a 900 sq. ft. home and it was 411 Fannin, 77375 good enough for 5 members of his family Rhonda Schiel - Owns this property and her father built 300 Houston Street, 77375 many of the 25’ lot houses years ago. She wants the area to stay preserved in Old Town area and keep its integrity. Dr. Rodney Hutson - Dr. Hutson owns about 6- 25’ lots plus city 9431 Rosie Lane, Suite 100 has 4 or so for a total of ten citywide. The Magnolia, 77354 25’ lots are not a good idea. It is not a good idea to give special permission to one and not the other. No action taken. Consensus of Council was to not build on 25’ lots, so there is no need to change the current ordinance. 4.0 Motion was made by Councilman Townsend, second by Councilman Dodson, to adjourn.
