MINUTES OF SPECIAL TOURISM ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING CITY OF TOMBALL, TEXAS MONDAY, JULY 18, 2011 3:30 P.M. 1.0 Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Chair Holly Cook. Other Committee members present were: Mary Harvey Prakash Patel Jeffie Cappadonna Rodney Hutson Kevin Lala Ken Shuman Members absent: Beverly Leday Ronald Tocci Others present: Assistant to City Manager – Shawn Cox City Secretary – Doris Speer 2.0 No Public Comments were received. 3.0 Old Business: 3.1 Presentations of prospective designs for a fountain at the Tomball Depot were made by The Pool Man, Aquascapes, LLC, and Tomball Pool and Spa. Motion was made by Mary Harvey, second by Rodney Hutson, to make no recommendation to Council. Vote was as follows: Minutes Special Tourism Advisory Committee July 18, 2011 Page 2 of 3 Holly Cook - Aye Mary Harvey - Aye Prakash Patel - Aye Jeffie Cappadonna - Nay Rodney Hutson - Aye Kevin Lala - Aye Ken Shuman - Aye Motion carried, 6 Aye votes to 1 Nay vote. Motion withdrawn Motion was made by Mary Harvey, second by Rodney Hutson, to recommend Aquascapes, LLC design to include their splash pad concept. Vote was as follows: Holly Cook - Abstain (Where is the funding?) Mary Harvey - Aye Prakash Patel - Nay Jeffie Cappadonna - Aye Rodney Hutson - Aye Kevin Lala - Nay Ken Shuman - Abstain (Needs more information) Motion carried, 3 votes Aye, 2 votes Nay. Motion was amended by Mary Harvey, second by Rodney Hutson, to include funding consideration, providing the maximum allowed under the HOT fund regulations. Vote was as follows: Holly Cook - Abstain (Where is the funding?) Mary Harvey - Aye Prakash Patel - Nay Jeffie Cappadonna - Nay Rodney Hutson - Aye Kevin Lala - Nay Ken Shuman - Abstain (Needs more information) Motion FAILED, 3 votes Nay, 2 votes Aye. 4.0 Motion was made by Ken Shuman, second by Jeffie Cappadonna, to adjourn. Notice is hereby given of a meeting of the City of Tomball Tourism Advisory Committee, to be held on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 3:30 p.m., City Hall Conference Room, 401 Market Street, Tomball, Texas 77375, for the purpose of considering the following agenda items. All agenda items are subject to action. The Tourism Advisory Committee reserves the right to meet in a closed session for consultation with attorney on any agenda item should the need arise and if applicable pursuant to authorization by Title 5, Chapter 551, of the Texas Government Code. 1.0 Call to Order 2.0 Public Comments and Receipt of Petitions (At this time, anyone will be allowed to speak on any matter other than personnel matters or matters under litigation, for length of time not to exceed three minutes.
