TOWN COUNCIL MEETING
May 20, 2019
The Town Council meeting was called to order by Ron Troyer at 4:00 p.m. May 20, 2019 with the
following persons present:

Minutes
Pete moved that the minutes for the last council meeting be approved. Jeff seconded the
motion and it carried unanimously.
Clerk-Treasurer
The board approved the claims as read. Pete made the motion, Jeff seconded the motion
and it carried unanimously.
An adjusted 2019 Salary Ordinance we presented to the council modifying the pay rate
for the new MVH Superintendent, James Lambright. Pete made a motion to accept the
adjusted Salary Ordinance, Jeff seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
Tax Abatement for Keystone and Snax-n-Pax was presented to the council. All terms of
the agreement were met according to Town Attorney, Bill Eberhard. Carl Stoltz abstained
from the vote. Pete made a motion to accept the Tax Abatements for Keystone and Snax-
n-Pax; Jeff seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
Stacey Massey from the Topeka Chamber of Commerce requested funds from the Town
Council for the 4 th of July fireworks display for 2019. Ray suggested looking into getting
quotes from other firework vendors for 2020. Pete made a motion to donate $4000 to the
2019 4 th of July fireworks display. Jeff seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
Town Manager
Resident Leroy Miller, 411 Jay St, requested a recommendation from the board to build a
detached garage. Pete made a motion for a Positive Recommendation, Jeff seconded the
motion and it carried unanimously.
Carl Stoltz gave the council his letter of resignation effective June 30, 2019. Jeff made a
motion to accept Carl's letter of resignation, Pete seconded the motion and it carried
unanimously.
Police Department
On behalf of the Town Marshal, Stewart Bender presented two quotes for repairs to the
police truck involved in an accident. Burnworth Zollars quote is for $6,120.75 and Hite's
quote is for $7,079.50. Ray made a motion to accept the bid from Burnworth Zollars for
$6,120.75. Pete seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
Next Meeting
The next Town Council meeting will be held at Topeka Town Hall on June 10, 2019 at
4:00 p.m. There being no other business to be brought before the Board the meeting was
adjourned at 4:26 pm.
