August Financial Snapshot AUDIENCE OF PUBLIC 1. Chief Yater- Wanted to inform Council of a grant that was received from the Ohio Ambulance Transportation Program. The grant is another ARPA grant and is in the amount of $20,000, this is due to the Covid period. Nobody was allowed to go to training, this grant was brought out to take training and “other things” that was missed during that period. Chief Yater, addressed that the fire station is working with several programs to send members out to training and have training done at the fire station. Chief Yater acknowledged that this grant has to be spent by June 2024. Chief Yater believes that it would be very beneficial to the department and inform Council of the grant and getting people into schools. During the hearing Mr. Agee did have a question for Chief Yater regarding how many grants has Captain Perkins wrote. None. City of Trenton REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES September 21st, 2023 - 7:30 p.m. REPORTS 1. Matthew Mesisklis- Spoke on individuals property tax valuation of expected amount or tentative amount is now visible on the auditor website. 2. Stanislav Beresford-Spoke on email about Ribbon Cutting ceremony at Community Christian Church 3. Marcos-Nichols-Spoke on the very large paving project, wanted to bring to attention after speaking to the service director the paving has been much less than what was expected and is working with the contractor to pause the paving operation and to have a conversation regarding the expectation level regarding the paving in the city and a applicable resolution for both parties regarding the expectation level of the paving project AUDIENCE OF COUNCIL Ms. Harris-Spoke about the Firmen, EMT’s, that were called to the house fire. Ms. Harris addressed that her neighbor was very pleased with the service (the firemen and EMT’s were very professional and respectful). Ms. Harris wanted to send the families regards regarding the firemen and EMT’s service. Ms. Harris then spoke on a cub scout pack that is getting restarted, there will be an informational night at Edgewood Intermediate School on September the 28th at 7pm located in the cafeteria. Ms. Harris also spoke on and wanted to invite anyone to attend a new course called Alpha that starts Saturday morning 9:45 and runs to noon at Trenton GracePointe Nazarene, the course will run on Saturdays for 11 weeks it is an open and safe environment, where people talk about faith, ask questions, etc. Ms. Combs – No reports. Mr. Perry – Thanked Marcos for the update regarding roads and the playground equipment. Mr. Perry was very glad to see that taken care of. Mr. Agee – Asked Marcos if the repair is satisfied with. Mr. Agee then spoke about the City not having a Veterans memorial. Mr. Agee would like to see something come out regarding a memorial and wants something that the city could show its appreciation to veterans inside the city. It does not have to be huge or extravagant; Mr. Agee did suggest that there is leftover ARPA money that could be used to build something for Veterans. Ms. Montgomery –Spoke towards Mr. Agee’s idea of a Veterans memorial, and would also like to see it happen. The idea touched Ms. Montgomery’s heart; this past Sunday, Ms. Montgomery took part of decorating one of the first Merchant marines whose first assignment was pearl harbor (he learned to swim in areas with oils, diesel, etc.) at the age of eighteen and turned ninety-eight this past Sunday. Ms. Montgomery happens to be very good friends with a student who is the president of the auxiliary in Ohio. Ms. Montgomery’s friend wanted to make it apparent to also reach out to regarding the memorial. Ms. Montgomery truly honors her country and honors those City of Trenton REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES September 21st, 2023 - 7:30 p.m. who have fought in many wars and noted that they made a strong impact in today’s society. Ms. Montgomery added that it doesn’t have to be extravagant, and it could be simple with sometimes simple ways is some of the best ways for it to be. Vice-Mayor Perry –Spoke on Mr. Agee’s and Ms. Montgomery’s idea of the memorial. Vice- Mayor Perry believes it is something that we need in this city. Suggested that it is something that the parks board should take on. Vice-Mayor Perry transitioned to Fall Fest 2023 is happening this weekend. It will be headlined with Sutherland, the festival starts 2:30 and ends at 9:30 with a car show going from 3:00-6:00. There will be many activities going on with fireworks by Rozzi’s concluding the festival. Mayor Woodrey – Noted to come Fall Fest 2023, car show starts at 3:00 with the festival starting at 2:30 and Southerland performing at 7:30. Mayor Woodrey is looking forward to seeing everyone at the festival. Also, mentioned that Fall Festival weekends are starting this weekend at Barn and Bunk Farm Market. Addressed to be careful driving around town, there is a lot of construction going on. Mayor Woodrey wanted to make it apparent that if you see an emergency vehicle coming from behind, to let it pass by. Looks forward to seeing everyone next Council meeting October 5th.
