Snyder Road Trotwood, OH 45426 City Council Workshop Meeting City Council Workshop Meeting Meeting Minutes November 21, 2016 I. Call to Order: Mayor Mary A. McDonald Mayor McDonald called the Workshop Meeting to order at 6pm. II. Pledge of Allegiance Mayor McDonald invited everyone to stand for the pledge of allegiance. III. Roll Call: Clerk of Council Deputy Clerk of Council David Young called the roll. Staff members present: Quincy E. Pope Sr. City Manager, David Young Deputy Clerk of Council, Stephen M. McHugh Law Director, Chris Peeples Finance Director, Stephanie Kellum Deputy City Manager, Donna Sue Bowman Income Tax Administrator, Fred Burkhardt Trotwood CIC Executive Director, Erik Wilson Police Chief, Jeannie Peyton Planning and Zoning Administrator, Eric Baxter Public Works Operations Manager. Visitors present: John Fecke, Marie Battle, Rick Suess, Paul Kasperski, Angela Salazar, Terra Williams, James Williams, Jay Young, Tom Grady. Present: 7 - Mayor Mary A. McDonald, Vice Mayor Bettye L. Gales, Councilmember Rhonda C. Finley, Councilmember Robert L. Kelley Jr., Councilmember Rap Hankins, Councilmember Charles Ron Vaughn and Councilmember Scotty A. Sly Sr. IV. Motion to Approve the Workshop Meeting Agenda Mayor McDonald requests a motion on this item. A motion was made by Councilmember Hankins, seconded by Vice Mayor Gales, that we approve the agenda as submitted. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 7- Mayor McDonald, Vice Mayor Gales, Councilmember Finley, Councilmember Kelley Jr., Councilmember Hankins, Councilmember Vaughn and Councilmember Sly Sr. V. Motion to Open the Workshop Meeting Mayor McDonald requests a motion on this item. A motion was made by Councilmember Hankins, seconded by Councilmember Sly, Sr., that we open the workshop meeting. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 7- Mayor McDonald, Vice Mayor Gales, Councilmember Finley, Councilmember Kelley Jr., Councilmember Hankins, Councilmember Vaughn and Councilmember Sly Sr. VI. Special Presentations and Recognitions Mayor McDonald invited City Manager Pope to introduce our Presenter's. The person presenting on PRO70-16 was not present yet so City Manager Pope moved on the next presenter. City of Trotwood Page 1 City Council Workshop Meeting Meeting Minutes November 21, 2016 A. Wesley Community Center’s Freedom School’s Collaborative Projects Attachments: Wesley Center Government Presentation 2016 Executive Director of the Wesley Community Center shared the focus of the organization and how they may partner in the City of Trotwood. B. Dayton and Montgomery County Infant Mortality Rate Tara Williams from Montgomery County Public Health Department of Health Promotion. She asked how many people know about Infant Mortality. Council and City Manager shared their knowledge of Infant Mortality. Montgomery County has the 8th highest infant mortality rate in the state of Ohio. Trotwood is among the seven highest zipcodes in the county with infant mortality. C. Epix Tube Company Update Paul Kasperski from Epix Tube Company shared an update on his business development. Mr. Kasperski shared the background of his business and then talked about their expansion and growth into the old K-Mart building. D. Specialty Manufacturing Solutions Update Rick Suess from Specialty Manufacturing shared an update on his business development. Mr. Suess shared the background of his business and then talked about their expansion and growth. E. Donation of Land by Islamic Association of Tarrant County, Fort Worth Texas Attachments: FD_Lot next to 4385 Salem.pdf lot73201611151632.pdf Fire and Rescue Chief Milliken shared about the opportunity to receive a land donation next to one of our Fire Stations. He shared that it could make it safer for our trucks to get back into the station. The current set up causes us to back into the fire station. VII. Motion to Adjourn Mayor McDonald requests a motion on this item. A motion was made by Councilmember Sly, Sr., seconded by Vice Mayor Gales, that the meeting be adjourned.
