City Report There was no report to be mentioned. CONSENT CALENDAR 2. Approval of the minutes of the meetings of June 21, 2023, June 28, 2023, July 19, 2023 and August 02, 2023. Kate Short motioned to approve the minutes and Kat Talley Jones seconded. 4-0 approved. BUSINESS 3. Budget Update Stacy Solie states that she spoke with Finance Director, Abigail Hernandez on ways to set up the budget. A presentation was given on the purpose on how to use the Creative Corp grant and to see how much will be spent. Everything has been set up to get ready for other positions to be added for the workshops. 4. Confirmation of Ecologist Consultant It was decided to table this item. 5. Creation of PAAC29 emails It was decided to table this item. 6. Update on bids to repair 29! Sculpture Page 3 of 5 Public Arts Advisory Committee - Regular Meeting August 30, 2023 Solie spoke with the artist of the 29! sculpture and the artist wanted the sculpture to have parking and landscaping, if kept in the same location. Solie had Steve Webster come out and view the sculpture and were interested in working on restoring the piece. Anna Stump met with the artist and said he would like the sculpture to have a powder coating and be brighter, if it was kept at the same location. The estimated cost to repaint and fix the holes will still need to be researched. Research will be provided at a later meeting. REPORTS, REQUESTS, AND COMMUNICATIONS 7. Workshop29 committees: 1. General planning update Short invited Caroline Partamian to participate in the discussion. The Welcome Packet is almost completed; will need time to finalize and make edits. All contracts are almost completed; will need time to finalize and make edits. 2.Hiring: Producer, Graphic Designer, Documentarian, Artist Mentors Graphic Designer and Documentarian are on separate contracts. There is going to be a meeting with the graphic designer and documentarian on what is needed for the workshops. 3. Mentee Hiring/Mentorship program. The mentee contract will be much less in-depth contract. The structure of the program is in the process of being structured. It is best if the whole team is involved in this program to make a presentation for the mentees. It is important to establish requirements to get a stipend for mentors willing to participate. The mentee will be required to participate in two workshops to learn more about the program and be more involved in the arts. There was a discussion on how to advertise for the mentor program. 4. Using Storage windows on Hwy 62 to promote the artists. There was a discussion on what the cost of the windows will be and what would be the purpose of the windows. This item will be further discussed at a later date. 8. Strategic planning update and Review of potential grants and deadlines Talley-Jones talked about the importance of funding and haven't heard about more grants. 9. PAAC member recruitment There needs to be more direction from the City on how to advertise for potential candidates. 10. Visitor Center Gallery report Stump states that she reached out to the Twentynine Palms Historical Society about presenting art in the Weedshow. 11. TBID meeting report PAAC gave a presentation about what was to come for upcoming events for the advisory board. TBID expressed interest and were supportive about the upcoming workshops. 12. Public calendar Page 4 of 5 Public Arts Advisory Committee - Regular Meeting August 30, 2023 Short mentioned that she will send dates to Director Keith Gardner to put on the public calendar. The calendar still needs to be finalized. The calendar will be updated as more events are coming in or confirmed. 13. Report on City Council tours of grantee spaces It was decided to table this item. 14. Rebranding of PAAC (logo, social media and video) Partinimen presented many examples of logos to use for the PAAC's Instagram. It was decided that there should be some minor changes to the logo so it can fit into the circle profile picture. It is important to keep consistency with all the logos. 15. PAAC webpage on City website The PAAC wants to rebrand their page on the City website. They would like to add a QR code to introduce people to the PAAC Instagram page. They would like to promote their Instagram and it will get people excited about getting involved in the arts. FUTURE ITEMS National Park project at Freedom Plaza Painted signs in downtown City Council Events committee The future items have been tabled.
