11-15-19 Tybee Island Marine Science Center ad hoc Committee Meeting

City of Tybee Island 11-15-19 Approved Minutes In attendance: Chief Patterson, Shawn Gillen, George Shaw, Matt Lieb, Matt Schivera, Bubba Hughes, Chad Zittrouer, Craig Clements, Alice Jonsson Shawn Gillen called the meeting to order at 11:00 AM. Matt Schivera made a motion to approve the Oct. 18th draft minutes. Shawn Gillen seconded. Motion approved. Matt S. and Matt Lieb did a two-week look ahead. Rough-ins are done. Chatham County needs to approve them. They are waiting on GA Power to set the transformer. GA Power is being slow. The base for the pavers is going in. Header curves going in. Stair tower will be going in. Exterior trim is going in next week. Pay aps are current. The job site will be closed Thursday and Friday Thanksgiving week. There is some vandalism happening on the site. They will be enhancing security to compensate for this. Chief Patterson and Shawn Gillen discussed the possibility of mounting a camera somewhere on the Science Center to enhance public safety of the beach. It would be a conduit and camera. They see that it can’t interfere with the lines of the building design. The group discussed some ways to mount a camera that would preserve the integrity of the design. Chad Z. made a motion to approve the installation of the conduit at the NE corner of the building and committee will review the placement of the camera at a later date. Shawn Gillen seconded. The motion was approved. The camera needs to be higher than the poles in the area. Matt Shivera made a motion to ask the Council to offer Wanda Doyle a position on the committee past her term of office, until the building is completed. Matt Lieb seconded. Motion approved. Date for next meeting will be Dec. 6th, 2019, at 11:00 AM. Alice Jonsson will send out the meeting invitation. Shawn Gillen made a motion to adjourn. Matt Lieb seconded. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 11:35.
