City of Tybee Island Draft Minutes 7-23-20 Public Safety Committee In attendance: Shawn Gillen, Joel Fobes, John Branigin, Peter Gulbronson, George Shaw, Alice Jonsson, Walter Hattrich, Matt Harrell, William Moseley Shawn Gillen called the meeting to order at 2:00. John Branigin made a motion to approve the draft minutes from 6-25-20. Peter Gulbronson seconded. Motion passed. Golf Carts – The ordinance needs to be changed. The grace period will be shortened to 24 hours. We will be booting some people who don’t follow the ordinance. Peter Gulbronson will be ordering boots. Solomon – Shawn Gillen – The placement of a speed bump on Solomon will be brought to the Aug. Council meeting. Making the intersection of Meddin and Van Horn a three way stop, as well as the intersection of Solomon and Campbell (the small cut-through in front of the purple house) will also be brought to the August Council meeting. Peter Gulbronson will speak with GA DNR about the dust control substance he wants to try. Shawn Gillen – We will have another community Zoom meeting to get feedback after the Solomon solutions have been in place. Peter Gulbronson is working on the policy for the temporary speed bumps. One-Way on 5th – Shawn Gillen – we will repaint the stripe and get feedback from the YMCA. Alley 3 – Matt Harrell will report back to the committee with regards to the improvements made to Alley 3. Camper Ordinance – Walter Hattrich will send some verbiage to Bubba Hughes. Matt Harrell will let Shawn Gillen know when the new stands will be put in place so the city can make sure DNR knows.
