Feb. 28th Tybee Island Marine Science Center ad hoc Committee Meeting

City of Tybee Island Tybee Island Marine Science Center ad hoc Committee Draft Minutes – February 28th, 2020 In Attendance: Shawn Gillen, George Shaw, Wanda Doyle, Barry Brown, Chad Zittrouer, Matt Lieb, Matt Schivera, Maria Procopio, Craig Clements, Alice Jonsson, Bubba Hughes Shawn Gillen called the meeting to order at 11:00. Shawn Gillen made a motion to approve the draft minutes from 2/7/20. Replace ‘Monty’ with ‘Maria’ in the third to the last paragraph in the minutes. Matt Lieb seconded. Motion approved. Maria Procopio – Science Center will do the native plantings. $6800.00 needs to be transferred so the plantings can be installed. Matt Lieb – We will grade it out and make sure it’s ready for the recreational elements. Craig Clements – The detention basin needs to be stabilized. Group discussed basin. George Shaw asked when the landscaping will happen. Maria Procopio – The Science Center will do it. The plantings will be exhibits. She will give George Shaw, a planting plan, schedule/timeline. Maria Procopio and Craig Clements will determine a place to store attic stock. It needs to be inside. Matt Lieb - Architects Meet and Greet – April 9th – it will be in the city’s possession at that point. Craig Clements - 5:30 for a couple of hours. Matt Lieb will send Maria Procopio the contact person. Maria Procopio has a Sneak Peak scheduled for big donors. Matt Schivera - Official architect’s walk-through the week of the 23rd. Motion – Shawn Gillen – George Shaw seconded. Recreational Components - COTI may make payments to Marine Science Center or whomever is hired to complete the recreational elements. Motion - Barry Brown – Keep the ad hoc meetings going until the grand opening. Shawn Gillen agreed. George Shaw seconded. Motion passed. Maria will meet with Matt Schivera to iron out recreational element details. West would theoretically contract with the Sci. Center to do work on the recreational elements. Matt Lieb asked if he could put materials in the parking lot once the fence is gone. Shawn Gillen said yes. Shawn Gillen made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Barry Brown seconded. Meeting adjourned at 11:44 AM.
