Discussion on the millage rate of the Town of Tyrone for fiscal year 2018-2019.
Jonathan Lynn, Town Manager
Mayor Dial opened the public hearing for anyone that wished to speak in favor of the item.
No one spoke.
Mayor Dial opened the public hearing for anyone that wished to speak in opposition of the item.
Mr. Billy Campbell, a resident on Beresford Road spoke. He stated that he was against keeping
the millage rate at the same amount. He added that the Town must raise the rate in order to
prepare for the expenses needed for services for our residents, local businesses and especially the
employees. There is a growing desire from the residents to make improvements in order to grow
and survive. The thought of paying more taxes does not sit well. In order to compete with
surrounding municipalities for new businesses, to keep and obtain qualified employees and to
attract families that would like to call Tyrone their home; I think it is necessary to increase the
revenue that comes into this Town.
