Clark, City Clerk URBANA CITY COUNCIL MEETING Monday December 2, 2013 The City Council of the City of Urbana, Illinois, met in regular session Monday, December 2, 2013 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Urbana City Building. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL There being a quorum, Mayor Prussing called the meeting of the Urbana City Council to order at 7:09 p.m. B. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING Alderwoman Ammons made a motion to approve minutes from meeting held on November 18, 2013. Alderman Roberts seconded. PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS Bishop King James Underwood and Rev. Dr. Evelyn Underwood did not wish to speak but wanted their concerns noted on record about the Dr. Ellis Subdivision Sewer Problems. E. UNFINISHED BUSINESS There was none. F. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES There were none. G. REPORTS OF SPECIAL COMMITTEES There were none. H. REPORTS OF OFFICERS Brian Nighlinger, Interim Fire Chief reported some events that took place in the weekend of the 16 and 17 of November 2013. He elaborated on the assistance that Urbana and Champaign fire fighters provided to the town of Gifford that was hit by a Tornado on November 17, 2013. Mr. Nightlinger also wanted to recognize his crew for an outstanding job done during a fire call at 40 E. Springfield. Tom Carrino, Economic Development Manager, presented the Economic Development Report. Among some of the events that took place there were some ribbon cutting for Bohemia, (Vintage Furniture Store); Dr. G’s Brain Works, (Fitness Store); The Urbana Butcher Shop. Mr. Carrino also announced the closing of Louie’s Dixie Kitchen and the future of that property. I. NEW BUSINESS 1. Mayoral Staff Appointments: a. Comptroller – Rich Hentschel b. Deputy Comptroller – Matthew Dillon c. IT Director – Sanford Hess Mayor Prussing presented appointments for approval and introduced new staff. Alderman Roberts made a motion to approve Mayoral Appointments as presented. Alderman Smyth seconded. Motion carried by voice vote.
