URBANA CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES DATE: Monday, November 25, 2019 TIME: 7:00pm PLACE: Urbana City Council Chambers, 400 S. Vine St., Urbana, IL 61801 The City Council of the City of Urbana, Illinois, met in special session Monday, November 25, 2019 at 7:00pm in the Council Chambers at the Urbana City Building. ELECTED OFFICIALS PHYSICALLY PRESENT: Bill Brown; Dean Hazen; Shirese Hursey; Eric Jakobsson; Jared Miller; Dennis Roberts; Charles A. Smyth, City Clerk; Diane Wolfe Marlin, Mayor ELECTED OFFICIALS PRESENT VIA TELECONFERENCE: None ELECTED OFFICIALS ABSENT: None STAFF PRESENT: Sheila Dodd, Elizabeth Hannan, Wendy Hundley, Carol Mitten, Lorrie Pearson, Michelle Robinson, Bryant Seraphin, James Simon, Richard Surles OTHERS PRESENT: None I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL There being a quorum present, Mayor Marlin called the meeting of the Urbana City Council to order at 7:01pm. II. PUBLIC INPUT There was none. III. NEW BUSINESS a. RESOLUTION No. 2019-11-048R: A Resolution Authorizing Acceptance of a 2019 Urban and Community Forestry Grant from The Morton Arboretum CM Miller Made a motion to suspend the Resolution on Resolution rule. CM Hazen seconded. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. City Administrator Carol Mitten presented Resolution No. 2019-11-048R with the recommendation for approval. Ms. Mitten gave background information about the ongoing events that have caused the city to lose/damage many city owned trees. Arborist Kevin Sanders submitted an application to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) and the US Forest Service (USFS) through the Northeastern Area, State and Private Forestry. Urbana applied for the 2019 Urbana and Community Forestry Grant Program in the Tree Planting category. The City was awarded $ 14,250 out of the max of $ 15,000. Ms. Mitten said that this resolution will allow Urbana to accept this grant. There being no questions or discussion, CM Miller moved to approve Resolution No. 2019- 11-048R as presented. CM Brown Seconded. Motion carried by roll call vote. Votes were as follows: (7-0) Ayes: Brown, Hazen, Hursey, Jakobsson, Miller, Roberts, Wu Nay: None VI.
