Tree Advisory Commission Meeting

APPROVED January 10, 2018 Urbana Tree Commission Meeting Minutes Date: Monday, June 5, 2017 Time: 1:30 p.m. Place: Public Works Engineering Conference Room, 706 Glover Avenue, Urbana, IL Members Present: Carol Augspurger (Chair), Stewart Berlocher, Jackson Bird, Michael Stevenson (Vice Chair) Staff Present: Michael Brunk (City of Urbana Arborist) Members Absent: Darin Eastburn, Derek Liebert Others Present: None Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 1:32 p.m. Roll call was taken. Approval of Meeting Minutes Michael Stevenson moved to approve the agenda for the March 27, 2017 meeting. Stewart Berlocher seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously by a voice vote. Public Input There was no public input. Former Business a. Legacy Tree Nomination – Bur Oak at 1904 E. Main Street Brunk updated the Commission on the status of the property owner approval for the 1904 E. Main Street Bur Oak Legacy Tree nomination. Both property owners of the shared tree have provided proper approval for the Legacy Tree designation. Bird moved to approve the Bur Oak at 1904 E. Main Street as a Legacy Tree in dual Historic and Age categories. Stevenson seconded, and the motion carried unanimously in favor by a voice vote. New Business  APPROVED January 10, 2018 a. Removal of Lincoln Avenue Bur Oak – 1004 S. Lincoln Avenue Brunk relayed that the significant Bur Oak located at 1004 S. Lincoln Avenue would be removed. A crane will be needed for efficiency and to avoid campus congestion as the upcoming school year approaches. b. Legacy Tree Candidates for plaques Brunk asked the Commission to consider the best way to prioritize the order of recipients of Legacy Tree plaques because of financial constraints. Additional Non-Agenda Items • James Ellis New Tree Commission Candidate • Darin Eastburn is moving to Terre Haute and will leave another vacancy • Mike Brunk asks for suggestions for potential Commission candidates to fill vacancies • The next two meetings are September 11, 2017 and December 4, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. Adjournment There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:51 p.m. Kathryn B.
