City of Verona Finance Committee City Hall – 111 Lincoln Street Verona, WI 53593-1520 MINUTES FINANCE COMMITTEE JULY 22, 2024 The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Mara Helmke at 6:32 p.m. Roll Call: Chairperson Mara Helmke, Alder Christine Posey and Alder Patrick Lytle were present. Also present: City Administrator Jamie Aulik, Finance Director Brian Lamers and Communication Manager Mara Trusty. Discussion and Possible Action regarding approval of July 8, 2024 Finance Committee minutes: Motion was made by Lytle, seconded by Posey to approve the July 8, 2024 Finance Committee minutes with no changes noted. Motion carried 3-0. Discussion and Possible Action regarding Updates to the Audio Video System in the Council Chambers with Utilizing Cable Fund Balance: Mara Trusty stated that the camera and signal flow wiring was old and outdated. Wiring through the building to the Council Chambers with Spectrum for fiber is estimated to be about $7,500. Trusty also stated that she is working on quotes to update the equipment also in the Council Chambers and currently has a bid for about $150,000. She stated the first step is to upgrade to fiber. Lamers stated the fund balance in the cable fund was over $700,000. Posey stated she is for this as long as when it is connected outside the building that it is connected with fiber and for Administration to look into that. Motion was made by Posey, seconded by Lytle to approve approximately $7,500 for updates to the fiber cable to the Audio Video System in the Council Chambers with utilizing Cable Fund Balance. Motion carried 3-0. Discussion and Possible Action regarding 2025 Budget Items: Lamers stated that Administration started looking at the capital request and working with the Departments for personnel requests. Discussion and Possible Action regarding the City Investment Report-June 2024: Lamers stated nothing significant noted. Discussion and Possible Action regarding the Revenue and Expenditure Summary Report-June 2024: Lamers stated there is nothing to be concerned about at this time. Discussion and Possible Action regarding the payment of bills: Motion was made by Posey, seconded by Lytle to approve the payment of bills totaling $2,020,006.36.
