CITY OF VERONA MINUTES POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION JANUARY 28, 2015 VERONA POLICE DEPARTMENT 111 LINCOLN STREET 1. The meeting was called to order by Delora Newton at 6:07 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Delora Newton, Joleen Semmann and Steve Heinzen. Also Present: Bernard Coughlin, Police Chief. 3. Approval of Minutes – Motion by Semmann, second by Newton to approve the minutes for the December 3, 2014 Police and Fire Commission meeting. Motion carried 2-0. 4. Moved by Newton, seconded by Heinzen to convene into CLOSED SESSION, pursuant to Section 19.85 (1) (c), of the Wisconsin State Statues, to conduct interviews of candidates for the position of Lieutenant of Police in the Verona Police Department. Motion carried: 3-0. Time: 6:10 p.m. 5. Moved by Heinzen, seconded by Semmann to return to open session for discussion and possible action regarding the closed session. Motion carried: 3-0. Time: 8:51 p.m. 6. Moved by Newton, seconded by Semmann to certify all candidates who interviewed for the lieutenant position. Motion carried: 3-0. Moved by Newton, seconded by Heinzen to authorize the Police Chief to conduct a promotional process for the job classification of Sergeant of Police. Motion carried: 3-0. 7. Discussion regarding the “state of the department.” 8. Motion to Adjourn: Moved by Semmann, second by Newton. Motion carried: 3-0. Time: 10:05 p.m.
