CITY OF VERONA POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION Tuesday, MARCH 28, 2023, AT 5:30 PM VERONA FIRE DEPARTMENT 101 LINCOLN STREET MINUTES 1. Call to Order by Louis Eifert at 5:31 pm. 2. Roll Call: Louis Eifert, Cole Leystra, Melissa Helgesen and Mylinda Heil. Rohit Yallamraju arrived 5:38pm Also present: Verona Fire Chief Dan Machotka 3. Approval of Minutes: Moved by Eifert, seconded by Helgesen to approve the March 8, 2023, minutes of the Verona Police and Fire Commission. Motion Carried: 4-0. 4. Moved by Eifert, seconded by Helgesen to authorize the Fire Chief to conduct the recruitment process for a full-time (career) Fire Lieutenant. Motion Carried: 4-0. 5. Moved by Eifert, seconded by Leystra to convene into closed session pursuant to Sec. 19.85(1) (c) and (e), WI State Statue, for the following purposes: a. To conduct interviews of candidates for the position of Battalion Chief of Inspection and prevention for the Verona Fire Department. Motion Carried: 4-0. Fire Chief Dan Machotka was invited to remain in closed session. Time: 5:34 p.m. 6. Moved by Leystra, seconded by Heil to return to open session for discussion and possible action regarding the closed session. Motion Carried: 5-0. Time: 7:44 p.m. Moved by Leystra, seconded by Helgesen to certify candidates including person IDs 18573719, 35452455, 10919041, 18340434, 22703552, but move candidates including person IDs 35452455, 18340434, 10919041 to continue forward with recruitment process for Battalion Chief of Inspection and Prevention.
