CITY OF VERONA PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE COMMITTEE NOVEMBER 25, 2013 VERONA CITY HALL MINUTES 1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Manley at 6:15 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Members Present: Michael Bare, Scott Manley, and Dale Yurs. Others Present: Bernie Coughlin, Police Chief; and Kami Scofield, City Clerk. 3. Approval of Minutes. Motion by Bare, seconded by Yurs to approve the minutes from the November 11, 2013 meeting. Motion carried 3/0. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding Resolution No. R-13-054 Approving an Intergovernmental Agreement for the Operation of an Impaired Driving Task Force. Chief Coughlin provided background information on the item. This agreement is the same as the one approved earlier this year which allows various Dane County municipalities to work together as a Task Force to discourage impaired driving. Motion by Yurs, seconded by Bare to recommend that the Council approve Resolution R-13-054. Motion carried 3/0. 5. Discussion regarding the consideration of a Pedal Pub Ordinance. Chief Coughlin explained that about two weeks ago the state approved ‘pedal pubs’ (a moving bar propelled by bicycle). He explained that the Department of Revenue recommended that an ordinance be adopted to regulate or impose restrictions on these due to various safety concerns. The Committee members encouraged Chief Coughlin to begin drafting an ordinance to regulate ‘pedal pubs’ and they would discuss this item again in the future. No action was taken on this item. 6.
