CITY OF VERONA PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE COMMITTEE FEBRUARY 24, 2014 VERONA CITY HALL MINUTES 1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Manley at 6:15 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Members Present: Michael Bare, Scott Manley and Dale Yurs. Others Present: Dave Dresser, Police Lieutenant; Adam Sayre, City Planner & Zoning Director; and Kami Scofield, City Clerk. 3. Approval of Minutes. Motion by Bare, seconded by Yurs to approve the minutes from the February 10, 2014 meeting. Motion carried 3/0. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding hours of operation for a Conditional Use Permit to allow for an expanded outdoor patio area for the Wisconsin Brewing Company, 1079 American Way. Mr. Sayre provided background information on the item stating that the Brewing Company wishes to expand the patio area that was originally approved to accommodate events of a larger scale. The hours proposed by the Wisconsin Brewing Company are Sunday‐ Thursday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday‐Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. with music ending at 10 p.m. Sunday‐Thursday and 11 p.m. Friday‐Saturday. Lt. Dresser stated that the recommendation from the Police Department is to keep the hours consistent with other businesses in the City of Verona. In addition to the hours the patio should be enclosed and only accessible through the establishment as is consistent with other establishments. Carl Nolen was present representing the Wisconsin Brewing Company and explained that the requested hours are essential for the type of events they wish to host including corporate events and weddings. The music for such events would be aimed toward the building as opposed to out towards neighboring homes in the Town of Verona and the Wisconsin Brewing Company intends to be conscious and respectful of its neighbors.
