CITY OF VERONA PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE COMMITTEE JULY 27, 2015 VERONA CITY HALL MINUTES 1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Dale Yurs at 6:17 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Members Present: Dale Yurs and Heather Reekie and Evan Touchett. Others Present: Bernie Coughlin, Police Chief and Bill Burns, City Administrator. 3. Approval of Minutes. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie to approve the minutes from the June 22, 2015 meeting. Motion carried 3/0. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding Liquor License Renewal for the 2015‐2016 License Period and Potential Hearing on the 2015‐2016 Liquor License Renewal for The Heights of Verona, LLC. Mr. Burns provided the staff recommendation on the item. At this time the recommendation is to approve the license as all wholesaler debts have been paid. It is noted that in the future the applicant should answer all questions on the application truthfully and any outstanding debt to distributors should be paid as soon as possible. Ald. Yurs expressed concerns with the applicant’s habitual violations of the alcohol laws. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie to recommend that the Common Council approve the license renewal. Motion carried 3/0. 5. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Class A Fermented Malt Beverage and Class A Liquor License from Akbir Kang for Annies Pantry Verona, Inc. located at 101 E Verona Avenue. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie to recommend that the Common Council approve the license. Motion carried 3/0. 6. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Cigarette/Tobacco License from Akbir Kang for Annies Pantry Verona, Inc. located at 101 E Verona Avenue. Motion by Reekie seconded by Touchett to recommend that the Common Council approve the Cigarette/Tobacco license. 7. Adjournment.
