CITY OF VERONA PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE COMMITTEE JUNE 27, 2016 VERONA CITY HALL MINUTES 1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Scott Stewart at 5:43 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Scott Stewart and Heather Reekie present. Evan Touchett absent and excused. Also in attendance: Police Chief Bernie Coughlin, Police Sergeant Jesse Christensen, Phil Hoechst, and City Clerk Ellen Clark 3. Approval of Minutes: Motion by Reekie, seconded by Stewart, to approve the minutes of the June 13, 2016 meeting. Motion carried 2-0. 4. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Special Event Permit for Hop Haus Brewing Company, LLC, for a Charity Fundraiser on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from Phil Hoechst. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Stewart, to approve a Special Event Permit for Hop Haus Brewing Company, LLC, for a charity fundraiser on Saturday, July 23, 2016, contingent upon proper proof of liability insurance listing the City of Verona as additional insured and, adding a city police officer for the hours of 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Phil Hoechst has applied for a Special Event Permit to hold a charity fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 3 p.m. – 10 p.m. at the Hop Haus Brewing Company, 231 S. Main Street. The business’s parking lot will be used for seating, a food cart, and live music, with metal barricades marking the perimeter of the parking lot area. Motion carried 2-0. 5. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Temporary Premise Description Amendment for the Hop Haus Brewing Company, LLC’s Class “B” Beer and Reserve “Class B” Intoxicating Liquor Licenses for Saturday, July 23, 2016. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Stewart, to approve a temporary premise description amendment for the Hop Haus Brewing Company, LLC’s Class “B” Beer and Reserve “Class B” Intoxicating Liquor Licenses on Saturday, July 23, 2016 to include the business’s parking lot located at 231 S. Main Street, contingent upon proper proof of liability insurance listing the City of Verona as additional insured, and adding a city police officer for the hours of 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Motion carried 2-0. 6. Discussion and Possible Action Re: Liquor License Application for Cahoot’s, Inc., d/b/a Cahoot’s, 102 Railroad Street, for the 2016-2017 Licensing Period. Motion by Stewart, seconded by Reekie, to grant the liquor license for Cahoot’s, Inc., d/b/a Cahoot’s, 102 Railroad Street, for the 2016-2017 licensing period, contingent upon correction of noted building inspection violations by July 10, 2016. The liquor license application for Cahoot’s was excluded from approval at the June 13, 2016 Public Safety & Welfare meeting due to building inspection violations noted on the June 10, 2016 building inspection checklist. The owner is responsible for correcting the violations within 30 days of the inspection, which is July 10th. Motion carried 2-0. 7. Discussion and Possible Action Re: Cigarette/Tobacco License Applications for Cahoot’s, Inc., d/b/a Cahoot’s, 102 Railroad Street, for the 2016-2017 Licensing Period. Motion by Stewart, seconded by Reekie, to grant the cigarette/tobacco license application for the 2016-2017 licensing period, contingent upon correction of noted building inspection violations by July 10, 2016.
