MINUTES
1. Call to Order: Evan Touchett called the meeting to order at 5:32 p.m.
2. Roll call: Evan Touchett and Heather Reekie were present. Sarah Gaskell was absent and
excused. Also present: Police Chief Bernie Coughlin, Sgt. Jesse Christensen, Jacob
Suskey, Katie Suskey, Ryan Richards and City Clerk Ellen Clark.
3. Approval of Minutes: Motion by Reekie, seconded by Touchett, to approve the
July 10, 2017 Minutes. Motion carried 2-0.
4. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Special Event Permit Application for the Tri-4
Schools Family Mud Run on Saturday, September 23, 2017, from 5:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.,
from Katie Brasel, Tri-4 Schools. This is the fifth year for this event. Approximately 1,500
people are expected to participate. The event is held in the park behind City Center, and
is designed for children ages 3-13. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie, to approve
a Special Event Permit for the Tri-4 Schools Family Mud Run on Saturday, September 23,
2017, from 5:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., contingent upon a records check by the Verona Police
Department. Motion carried 2-0.
5. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Special Event Permit Application for the Ironman
Wisconsin Triathlon on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., from Ryan
Richards, World Triathlon Corporation. This is the fifteenth year for the Ironman event
in Verona. The Ironman event brings several thousand participants and spectators to the
city. All police officers are assigned to this event to assist with traffic and road crossings.
Motion by Touchett, seconded by Reekie, to approve a Special Event Permit for the
Ironman Wisconsin Triathlon on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.,
contingent upon a records check by the Verona Police Department. Motion carried 2-0.
6. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Special Event Permit Application for the Madison
Beer Run on Sunday, October 1, 2017 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., from Phil Hoechst, Hop Haus
Brewing Company, LLC, 231 S. Main Street, Verona, WI. Motion by Touchett, seconded
by Reekie to defer this item to a future date awaiting additional information about the
event and an updated certificate of insurance. Motion carried 2-0.
7. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Temporary Premise Description Amendment for
Class “C” Wine License on Sunday, October 1, 2017, for the Hop Haus Brewing Company,
LLC, 231 S. Main Street, Verona, WI to include the Front Parking Lot. Motion by
Touchett, seconded by Reekie to defer this item to a future date awaiting additional
information about the event and an updated certificate of insurance. Motion
carried 2-0.
8. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Combination Class “B” Beer and Reserve “Class B”
Intoxicating Liquor License Application for 4 Sisters, Inc., Verona, d/b/a 4 Sisters Wine
and Tapas Restaurant, 958 Liberty Drive, Suite 106, Verona, WI , Corynn Wieland, Agent.
4 Sisters, Inc., Verona has applied for a Combination Class “B” Beer and “Class B”
Intoxicating Liquor License to serve wine, beer and liquor at 4 Sisters Wine and Tapas
Restaurant. The license extends to the 56-seat patio area, as well. Staff estimates that
the building will be ready for inspection in September. Motion by Touchett, seconded by
Reekie, to recommend to the Common Council to approve a Combination Class “B” Beer
and Reserve “Class B” Intoxicating Liquor License Application for 4 Sisters, Inc., Verona,
d/b/a 4 Sisters Wine and Tapas Restaurant, 958 Liberty Drive, Suite 106, Verona, WI,
Corynn Wieland, Agent, for the interior areas of the building only, and contingent upon
a records check by the Verona Police Department. Motion carried 2-0.
9. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Touchett, to adjourn at 5:51 p.m. Motion carried 2-0.
