Public Works, Sewer and Water

CITY OF VERONA MINUTES PUBLIC WORKS/SEWER & WATER COMMITTEE MONDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2014 1. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson William McGilvray at 5:30 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Present: William McGilvray, Luke Diaz, Heather Reekie. Also present: Bill Burns, City Administrator, Bob Gundlach, City Engineer, Ron Rieder, Director of Public Works. 3. MOVED by McGilvray, seconded by Diaz, to approve the minutes of the December 9, 2013 meeting of the Public Works/Sewer and Water Committee. Motion carried 3-0. 4. MOVED by McGilvray, seconded by Reekie, to approve the Professional Services Agreement for 2014 Municipal Storm Water Services in an amount not to exceed $50,100.00. Motion carried 3-0. 5. Discussion regarding 2013 construction activities: The Public Works Director reported to the Committee in the Water Utility approximately 7.8 million dollars of construction, 2 million dollars of construction in the Storm Water Utility and 1.2 million dollars of construction in the Sewer Utility. 6. Discussion regarding the costs associated with the 2013-2014 winter season: The Public Works Director reported to the Committee that he is estimating that the costs associated with the winter season will result in a budget deficit for 2013 of approximately $130,000.00 and is projecting a 2014 deficit of approximately $70,000.00. He explained that these numbers are only estimates that have not gone through the audit process. 7. Discussion regarding Domestic Partners Benefits: The Committee reviewed an ordinance that was adopted by the City of Middleton. It was suggested that this item move forward to the Finance Committee at a future meeting. 8. MOVED by McGilvray, seconded by Reekie, to adjourn. Motion carried 3-0.
