Ron Rieder indicated that the installation of solar powered pedestrian flashing lights would be one idea that could bring more awareness to these crossings. He suggested that the crossing on South Main Street would be his first priority. Based on traffic volumes the crossing on South Nine Mound Road, South Franklin Street and Lincoln Street could best be served by painted cross walks. The crossing on Old PB is presently in the Town of Verona and he suggested that the crossing be improved as part of bridge reconstruction in 2016. He also indicated that he would work with the Town and the Department of Natural Resources to improve the visibility at the crossing on Old PB. 5. Discussion regarding the Verona Community Theater Project: Dick Vock reported that the Verona Community Theater is looking at building a new facility, approximately 9,100 SF with a 150 seat theater. VACT has worked with City staff at exploring various sites that could accommodate their needs and the preferred site from staff would be the southern portion of the Verona Fire Station property. Chairman Touchett asked that we explore a site adjacent to the Library within Badger Prairie Park and report back with the findings. In addition City staff would be interested in acquiring their existing site for a Parks Department Maintenance Facility. Mr. Vock also indicated that they would be interested in providing space to accommodate the Recreation Department dance program.
