Public Works, Sewer and Water

CITY OF VERONA MINUTES PUBLIC WORKS/SEWER & WATER COMMITTEE MONDAY, JULY 14, 2014 1. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Evan Touchett at 5:30 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Present: Evan Touchett, Luke Diaz, William McGilvray. Also present: Mandy Marks, Resident from 308 N. Main Street, Randy Marks, Two students from Edgewood College Nursing Program, program requirement attending a Public Meeting, Bill Burns, City Administrator, Bob Gundlach, City Engineer, Ron Rieder, Director of Public Works. 3. MOVED by Diaz, seconded by McGilvray to approve the minutes of the June 9, 2014 meeting of the Public Works/Sewer and Water Committee. Motion carried 3-0. 4. Discussion regarding the Sanitary Sewer back-up claim at 308 N. Main St. MOVED by Diaz, seconded by McGilvray, to direct the City Administrator to obtain additional information and refer this item to the July 28, 2014 committee meeting. Motion carried 3-0. 5. MOVED by Touchett, seconded by McGilvray, to approve the contract with Scott Construction in the amount of $329,236.64 for the 2014 Bituminous Seal Coat Project. Motion carried 3-0. 6. MOVED by Luke, seconded by Touchett, to approve the 2013 Compliance Maintenance Annual Report for the Sewer Utility as presented by the Public Works Director. Motion carried 3-0. 7. Discussion regarding selling a strip of land to the Caring Center from a parcel of land where the Water Tower is located. The committee was in support of this with the understanding that the owner of the Caring Center would be responsible for all legal and engineering fees associated with the sale. 8. Discussion of the agreement for the Final Design of CTH M from Prairie Hill Road to Cross Country Road. The item was tabled to a future meeting because the agreement had not been finalized by City and County staff. 9. MOVED by Touchett, seconded by Diaz, to approve the Professional Services Agreement for the design of the new traffic signals at Lincoln Street and E. Verona Avenue, and to modify the signals at E. Verona Avenue and Enterprise Drive in the amount not to exceed $45,075.00. Motion carried 3-0. 10. MOVED by Diaz, seconded by Touchett, to adjourn. Motion carried 3-0.
