PUBLIC WORKS/SEWER & WATER COMMITTEE
MONDAY, JUNE 27, 2016
1. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Touchett at 5:00pm.
2. Roll Call: Present: Evan Touchett, Luke Diaz, Mac McGilvray. Also present: Ron Rieder, Director of
Public Works; Theran Jacobson, Director of Public Works; Carla Fisher, AECOM.
3. MOVED by Touchett, seconded by Diaz, to approve the minutes of the June 13, 2016 meeting of the
Public Works/Sewer and Water Committee. Motion carried 3-0.
4. MOVED by McGilvray, seconded by Diaz, to recommend approval of Ordinance N, 16-876 regarding
amendment of Title 9, Chapter 2 (Sewer Utility Regulations and Rates) of City of Verona ordinance
number 16-876. Motion carried 3-0.
5. MOVED by McGilvray, seconded by Diaz, to recommend approval of Professional Services Agreement
with AECOM for traffic signals design at intersection of W. Verona Avenue / West End Circle /
Westridge Parkway contingent upon approval of amendment to the existing Developers Agreement with
Vanta relative to costs of traffic lights professional services, construction, and schedule. Contract not to
exceed $18,000. Motion carried 3-0.
Jim Ferolie, Verona Press entered at 5:12pm.
6. MOVED by McGilvray, seconded by Diaz, to recommend approval of Change Order No.1 for
Community Park Parking Lot Re-construction and Park Lane Parking Lot Construction Project. Motion
carried 3-0.
7. MOVED by McGilvray, seconded by Diaz, to recommend approval of Amendment No.1 for
Professional Services with Ayres Associates for Project ID 5796-10-00, Old CTH PB Branch Badger
Mill Creek in amount of $11,351.90. Motion carried 3-0.
8. Discussion regarding pavement condition on South Main Street as part of the Downtown Street Scape
Project. Downtown street scape project delayed to 2017. Main Street to be re-constructed and closed
for estimate 6-8 weeks. No action taken.
9. MOVED by Touchett, seconded by Diaz, to recommend approval of Relocation Order and
Determination of Necessity for County Highway M/County Highway PD Intersection Project contingent
upon the Environmental Document signed. Motion carried 3-0.
10. MOVED by McGilvray, seconded by Diaz, for approval to transfer Sewer Facilities from Madison
Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) to City of Verona. Motion carried 3-0.
11. MOVED by McGilvray, seconded by Diaz, to recommend approval of the Agreement for land transfer
due to inadvertently installed storm sewer at West End development. Motion carried 3-0.
12. Discussion regarding vacant property on N. Nine Mound Road. The property is known as the Roth
Property. McGilvray noted need to discuss public services with City Attorney and ordinance provisions.
A Certified Survey Map shall be required for any access through Mr. Wilson property to south.
Discussion regarding provisions that Roth property shall connect to public sewer and public right of way
once available in future as lands to east develop. A turn around shall be established on the Roth
property.
13. MOVED by Touchett, seconded by Diaz to adjourn at 6:07p.m. Motion carried 3-0.
