Thompson, Alderman Monday, April 6, 2015 10:00 AM City Hall Annex Board Room 1. Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order Invocation was given by Alderman Mayfield. Pledge of Allegiance was led by Alderman Thompson. 2. Roll Call Present: 3- Mayor George Flaggs Jr. Alderman Michael A. Mayfield Sr. Alderman Willis T. Thompson 3. Board Comments: Mayor Flaggs, thanked the Legislative Leadership for passing the Sports Complex Bill. An election may by held in January 2016. Alderman Mayfield, stated that placing a vote for the change of municipal government on same ballot as the Sports Complex Bill will be confusing. Alderman Thompson, stated the Sports Complex Board made all the right moves in their process; Applications for summer youth workers are available online on the city's web page. 4. Adopt Agenda ADD: Resolution for former Alderman Sidney H. Beauman. Authorize City Clerk to advertise Sealed Bids for Airport Terminal Elevator Project Vicksburg Convention Center updates On motion of Alderman Mayfield, seconded by Alderman Thompson, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to adopt as amended the 4. ID-15-0331 Approve request for advertisement from The River City Special Olympics Softball Team Attachments: Special Olympics Ad Mayor Flaggs stated that purchasing an advertisement from The River City Special Olympics Softball Team will bring into favorable notice the opportunities, possibilities and resources of the City of Vicksburg and will be helpful toward advancing the moral, financial and other interest of the City of Vicksburg. On motion of Mayor Flaggs, seconded by Alderman Mayfield, and unanimously passed, The Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Vicksburg approved the purchase of an ad from The River City Special Olympics Softball Team in the amount of $500.00. The motion was adopted unanimously by the following vote: Aye: 3- Mayor Flaggs, Alderman Mayfield, and Alderman Thompson C. ID-15-0327 Approve request for advertisement from Tyner-Ford American Legion Post 213 in Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Attachments: American Legion Ad Mayor Flaggs stated that purchasing an advertisement from Tyner-Ford American Legion Post 213 in Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War will bring into favorable notice the opportunities, possibilities and resources of the City of Vicksburg and will be helpful toward advancing the moral, financial and other interest of the City of Vicksburg. On motion of Alderman Mayfield, seconded by Alderman Thompson, and unanimously passed, The Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Vicksburg approved the purchase of a full page ad from Tyner-Ford American Legion Post 213 in Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War in the amount of $100.00. Alderman Mayfield moved to go into executive session to discuss Personnel Action Forms for New Hire in the Right of Way Department (1), Recreational Programs (3); Pay Adjustment in the Police Department (1), Sewer Department (1), Water Maintenance Department (1), Fire Department (3); Retro Pay Adjustment in the Police Department (1); Resignation in the Fire Department (1), Police Department (1); Suspension in the Water Maintenance Department (1), Street Department (1), Sewer Department (1); Termination in the Recreation Programs (1); Permission to Post in the Recreation Programs (1). The motion was seconded by Alderman Thompson, and upon vote being taken, the following voting aye: Mayor Flaggs, Alderman Mayfield, Alderman Thompson. None voting nay, the motion was adopted unanimously. ID-15-0333 New Hire - Right of Way Department (1) On motion of Alderman Thompson, seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve New Hire of Zero Turn Operator at $8.08 per hour in the Right of Way Department. The motion was adopted unanimously by the following vote: Aye: 3- Mayor Flaggs, Alderman Mayfield, and Alderman Thompson B. ID-15-0334 New Hires - Recreational Programs (3) On motion of Alderman Thompson, seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve New Hires for three (3) Softball Umpires at $20.00 per game each in the Recreational Programs. ID-15-0339 Retro Pay Adjustment - Police Department (1) On motion of Alderman Thompson, seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve Retro Pay Adjustment for Police Officer for hours worked for the pay period of February 21 - March 17, 2015 due to the employee for not being paid the increase amount of $.20 for longevity pay. Total regular hours worked 149.10X.20+$29.82 total amount due in the Police Department. The motion was adopted unanimously by the following vote: Aye: 3- Mayor Flaggs, Alderman Mayfield, and Alderman Thompson H. ID-15-0348 Resignation - Fire Department (1) On motion of Alderman Thompson, seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to accept Resignation from Paramedic in the Fire Department. ID-15-0354 Suspension - Street Department (1) On motion of Alderman Thompson, seconded by Alderman Mayfield, the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve Suspension for Concrete Foreman indefinitely, pending a termination hearing for positive drug test in the Street Department.
