The Mayor and Aldermen discussed whether or not they should go into executive session. The motion was seconded by Alderman Mayfield, Sr. Upon vote being taken, the following voted aye: Mayor Flaggs, Alderman Mayfield, Alderman Monsour, Jr. The motion was adopted unanimously. The Mayor and Aldermen announced they would go into executive session to discuss Personnel Action Forms for: Promotion in the Purchasing Department (1); Promotions in the Gas Department (2); Pay Adjustment in the Police Department (1); Suspension in the Water Mains Department (1); Disciplinary Hearing in the Police Department (1). The Mayor and Aldermen are now in executive session. Those present at the executive session were Mayor Flaggs, Alderman Mayfield, Alderman Monsour, Jr., Nancy Thomas - City Attorney, Walter W. ID-21-0565 Promotion - Purchasing Department (1) On motion of Mayor Flaggs, Jr., seconded by Alderman Monsour, Jr., the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve the Promotion of a Warehouse Receiving Clerk from $9.50 per hour to a Supply Specialist at $10.75 per hour, effective June 2, 2021 in the Purchasing Department. The motion was adopted unanimously by the following vote: Aye: 3- Flaggs Jr., Mayfield Sr., and Monsour Jr. B. ID-21-0566 Promotions - Gas Department (2) On motion of Mayor Flaggs, Jr., seconded by Alderman Monsour, Jr., the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve the Promotions of a Laborer from $8.50 per hour to a Locator at $10.00 per hour, effective June 16, 2021. Employee is being promoted from a Gas Laborer to a Gas Locator; a Laborer from $8.50 per hour to a Serviceman at $10.00 per hour, effective June 16, 2021. Employee is being promoted from a Laborer to a Serviceman in the Gas Department. The motion was adopted unanimously by the following vote: Aye: 3- Flaggs Jr., Mayfield Sr., and Monsour Jr. C. ID-21-0567 Pay Adjustment - Police Department (1) On motion of Mayor Flaggs, Jr., seconded by Alderman Monsour, Jr., the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve the Pay Adjustment of an Officer from $17.70 per hour to $17.90 ($17.70 + .20) per hour, effective June 12, 2021. Employee is entitled an additional .20 cent increase for eight (8) years of service in the Police Department. The motion was adopted unanimously by the following vote: Aye: 3- Flaggs Jr., Mayfield Sr., and Monsour Jr. D. ID-21-0568 Suspension - Water Mains (1) On motion of Mayor Flaggs, Jr., seconded by Alderman Monsour, Jr., the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve the Suspension of a Laborer for two (2) days, effective June 7, 2021. Employee has two (2) charges (5/10/2021 & 5/21/2021) and he has only been employed since April 7, 2021. Employee has also received a written warning on April 19, 2021 in the Water Mains Department. The motion was adopted unanimously by the following vote: Aye: 3- Flaggs Jr., Mayfield Sr., and Monsour Jr. E. ID-21-0569 Disciplinary Hearing - Police Department (1) On motion of Mayor Flaggs, Jr., seconded by Alderman Monsour, Jr., the Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve the Disciplinary Hearing of an Investigator in the Police Department. Employee has been suspended due to receiving a Driving Under Influence (DUI) since December 2020. As if May 26, 2021, employee has submitted the required documentation to return to work. Employee's case was dismissed on May 18, 2021 and his drivers license has been reinstated as of May 24, 2021. Employee may return to work on his next scheduled shift.
