Town of Vienna 127 Center Street South Vienna, VA. 22180 p: 703-255-6300 TTY 7111 Meeting Minutes Board of Architectural Review Work Session Friday, November 8, 2019 8:00 AM Vienna Town Hall Work Session 380 Maple Ave W - Sunrise The Board of Architectural Review met in a work session in the Vienna Town Hall, 127 Center Street, South Vienna, Virginia 8:00am Friday November 8, 2019. The following members were present: Chairman Paul Layer, Roy Baldwin, Michael Cheselka, and Patty Hanley. Andrea West Planner and Kelly O’Brien Principal Planner were present. Paul Layer recused himself from the work session and Mr. Baldwin acted as Chair Mr. John Rust and Mr. Scott Fleming, architects, and Mr. Jerry Young, Vice President Sunrise, were present to discuss proposed plans for Sunrise of Vienna at 380 Maple Ave W. Mr. Rust explained they were proposing a revision to the approved plan at 380 Maple Ave W for Sunrise of Vienna and described the changes. The following recommendations were given by Board members during the meeting: - Prefer option B - 56’ at corner for tower feature with parapet at 54’, screening rooftop equipment - Brick in the back instead of siding - Make tower more dramatic - Slant mansard roofing making more authentic and dramatic - Stamp concrete to look like brick and bring to drop off zone - Treatments to interior of garage - Public art on the brick walls facing the parking - Create a place to put public art - Wrap planters around the corner - Header on garage opening (arch) Respectfully submitted by, Sharmaine Abaied Board Clerk THE TOWN OF VIENNA IS COMMITTED TO FULL COMPLIANCE WITH THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT STANDARDS.
