Vienna, Virginia, Friday, August 11, 2023, at 8 am. The following members were present: Mr. Baldwin, Mr. Cheselka, Ms. Hanley, and Ms. van Doorn. Board members absent: Mr. Layer. Staff present: Planner Sharmaine Abaied & Clerk to the Board Yaska Camacho Castillo. Applicant: Stephen Kenny – 467A N Washington St, Falls Church, VA. Mr. Kenny stated that he was not involved in the project that was being presented to the board. He worked for the tenant (iCode) at a different location. He explained that when the tenant moved to this location, they were led to believe by the landlord that they did not have to submit an application to the Board of Architectural Review before installing the awning and sign on the building. The tenant now understands that they have to submit an application but first wanted to show several alternatives to the sign's design in case the board rejects what was installed. Mr. Kenney presented the board with the proposed replacement of an existing awning that included a sign and three additional options the tenant had considered. Mr. Baldwin asked what the symbol on the left of “iCode” means and whether it is part of the iCode logo. Mr. Kenney stated it was part of their logo but did not know what it meant. After further discussion, Ms. Hanley stated that the awning and sign as installed are acceptable to her. Mr. Cheselka agreed, as did Ms. van Doorn and Mr. Baldwin.
