Natalie Monkou, Manager, Economic Development called roll. Members present:
Chairman Robert Leggett (ZOOM); Peggy James; Robert Holland; Jennifer Morrow,
Mark Lander (ZOOM).
Absent: Deepa Chakrapani
Staff Present: Natalie Monkou, Economic Development Manager; Hallie Willis,
Marketing and Business Engagement Specialist.
2. Approval of the Minutes:
There were no minutes.
3. New Business
A. TBLC-22185
TBLC Member Updates
Peggy James announced that the VBA is seeking a volunteer for the Taste of Vienna
on April 30, 2022. Jennifer Morrow agreed to fulfill this request. Robert Holland
wished to clarify that the event is one day only.
Jennifer Morrow stated that the property where Bard’s Alley is located has been
sold.
A discussion followed regarding traffic and safety concerns at the corner of Lawyers
Rd. and Church St. It was suggested that contact be made with the Transportation
Safety Commission.
Robert Holland noted that he has authored an article for future publication
highlighting the history of Merle Norman in the Town of Vienna. The second oldest
business in Vienna, Merle Norman has been in operation since 1953. The article is
potentially slated for publication in the coming year.

Update On MHS Internship Program
Chairman Leggett recognized Manager Natalie Monkou who reported that the Town
received one student intern application. Mark Lander reported that he has hired
two student interns. Peggy James noted that applications are open until April 20,
2022. She encouraged earlier promotion of this opportunity for the next year to
allow businesses time to plan.

New Member Recruitment Efforts for TBLC
Members discussed potential Committee recruits.

Welcoming New Businesses (March)
Robert Holland reported receiving an updated list from Manager Monkou. New
business contact assignments were distributed to members.
Carole Wolfand Award
Body Grace Fitness and Yoga will be presented the 2022 Carole Wolfand Award on
April 19, 2022 at 6:30 PM. Weather permitting, the ceremony will be held on the Town
Green. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place at the
Volunteer Fire Department. All TBLC Members were strongly encouraged to attend.
5. Economic Development Manager Updates
A. TBLC-22179
Upcoming and Relevant Town Council Meetings
Manager Monkou noted that the Town Council met in Special Session March 24,
2022 to discuss a proposed zoning ordinance text amendment related to the
allowance of outdoor dining. A Joint Public Hearing of the Town Council and the
Planning Commission will be held May 11, 2022. Committee Members are
encouraged to attend and invited to sign up to speak.
A copy of the draft regulations will be sent to all Committee members.

Division News
Manager Monkou introduced Hallie Willis, newly hired Marketing and Business
Engagement Specialist.
A ribbon cutting is scheduled for April 26, 2022 for Salon and Company Suites. The
event will include a VBA mixer at 5:30 PM prior to the ribbon cutting at 6:30 PM.
May is Business Appreciation Month. Numerous awards will be presented
throughout that time frame. Hallie Willis presented an example of the nominations
survey for these awards.

Meeting Reminders & Updates
Manager Monkou reviewed the rules and regulations for membership in the TBLC.
She encouraged the Committee to begin thinking about the Annual Report. Work
will begin on this document in the Fall/Winter.
6. Meeting Adjournment
Chairman Leggett called for a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:55 PM.
