Staff Present: Natalie Monkou, Director, Economic Development; Hallie Willis, Economic Development 2. Approval of the Minutes None 3. Regular Business A. TBLC-22249 Holiday Decorating Contest Jennifer Morrow, Chairman reported on judging for the Christmas window displays. There were 17 participants (three additional applicants did not participate) with awards as follows: • First Place – Pennywise Thrift Shop; • Second Place – Karen’s Floral; • Third Place – Vienna Paint. Chairman Morrow noted that an evaluation of the process will be conducted following the conclusion of voting for the residential contest. Committee members are asked to submit comments and suggestions via email directly to her. She will summarize for discussion with Lily Widman, Parks and Recreation. B. TBLC-22250 Member Recruitment Chairman Morrow reported that one application has been received, and members continue to make contact with potential recruits. C. TBLC-22253 WINGS Program Partnership Chairman Morrow called on Robert Holland to report. He indicated that plans are to contact representatives from James Madison High School in the next few weeks. A brief discussion followed regarding the program fit with the TBLC. Chairman Morrow suggested that it may find greater success with the VBA. D. TBLC-22254 Town of Vienna Page 1 Printed on 2/3/2023 Town Business Liaison Committee Meeting Minutes - Final December 8, 2022 2023-2024 TBLC Programming Chairman Morrow indicated that 2023/24 programming should be planned in budgetary quarters beginning July 1, 2023 and concluding June 30, 2024. Among the events/new initiatives will be an evening honoring home based businesses (4th quarter); Shine Brite Vienna (2nd quarter); Carol Wolfand Award (3rd/4th quarter); Business Anniversary event (twice per year); Ribbon cutting photo (throughout year). 4. Economic Development Division Updates A. TBLC-22252 Business Topics at Upcoming Council Meetings Chairman Morrow called on Natalie Monkou, Director, Economic Development to provide a report of significant issues. Director Monkou reviewed discussion from the last Code Create Joint Session where hot button issues were presented by Council for inclusion in the Code. Director Monkou urged members to attend the following Council meetings of import: January 9, 2023 – Joint meeting of Town Council/Planning Commission on Code Create; January 23, 2023 – Joint meeting of Town Council/Planning Commission on Code Create; January 30, 2023 – Town Council Meeting to discuss a site plan change. B. TBLC-22251 Marketing Project The new web site is scheduled for launch in January 2023. A launch party is under consideration. Public Works is currently working to place five bike share stations throughout Town. Parking Study- Data is currently under analysis.
