BOROUGH OF WALDWICK BOARD OF HEALTH REGULAR MEETING MINUTES Thursday, July 18, 2024 The Board of Health Meeting for the Borough of Waldwick was held at Borough Hall in the Council Chambers. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM by K. Hillringhouse, BOH President. The Opening Statement was read according to the Sunshine Law and was followed by Roll Call: PRESENT: M. Giordano K. Hillringhouse D. Guy G. Hazley R. Rose A. Larro D. Palladino A. Paradiso ABSENT: J. Martinello, K. Tone PROFESSIONALS PRESENT: N. Reddy, Health Officer C. Woodward, Administrative Assistant APPROVAL OF MINUTES K. Hillringhouse asked for an approval of minutes from the April 18, 2024 meeting. M. Giordano made a motion to accept minutes, which was seconded by G. Hazley. ACTIVITY REPORT N. Reddy reviewed the April - June Activity reports. Please refer to reports for specific data. Highlights included: • Yearly audits of Preschool, Elementary, Middle, and High School student immunizations records completed. Final compliance rate is 100% with exception of Small World Child Center at 98%. • As of June, COVID hospitalizations and admissions remain low, JN.1 accounted for 36.5% of sequenced variants in the 4 weeks leading up to 6/22/24. • There are currently no outbreaks in long term care facilities or assisted living facilities in the community. • Adult Health Clinic services provided by appointment. • Child Health Clinic scheduled for every third Wednesday of the month at 22 Whites Lane. Three children were seen during between April and June. • Continued distribution of COVID-19 home test and Narcan. • Consumer and Environmental Reports from January - March: 1  o 33 Retail Food Establishment Inspections completed. o 7 Temporary Retail Food Establishment Inspection completed. o 1 Plan review consultation with Christ Community Church. o 6 Complaint Investigations. o 5 Public Recreational Bathing Facilities. o 2 Youth Camp inspections. o 11 OPRA requests completed. o 2 Septic Abandonments approved. o 2 Animal bites investigated. • Emergency response investigations from Water Main Break on June; 47 establishments. o REHS visited establishments to ensure that the water boiling advisory was being followed. • Two Notice of Violations issued; Failure to cooperate in animal bite investigation and garbage accumulation. • Court Appearance with Boston Market re: summonses SC2024 004462. • Vital Statistics: o 15 Marriage License applications o 15 Marriage Certificates o 1 Amendment o 19 Death Certificates • Online Food handler vouchers were purchased and are available from State Food Safety Training. • NWBRHC hosted an in-person Food Handler Course at the Waldwick Library, 13 attendees, with 7 establishes represented. • Numerous Health Education Outreach programs including: o Community Spotlight sent out for April, May and June. o Presentations and programs held including:  Preventing Youth Suicide  File of Life Presentation at Tamaron  Hidden in Plain Sight – Virtual Program  Hoarding to Healing - Virtual Event  Presentations at the Forum School  Improving your memory virtual presentation • Health Education calendar was presented and upcoming health education events are now listed on our website. D. Guy questioned when OPRA request are submitted for health records, specifically what records are they requesting? N. Reddy stated could be inspection records, complaints, rodents, septic, environmental, etc. Generally, its when property is being purchased and buyer wants to verify there are no issues with the property. D. Guy questioned the water main break; did an inspector visit the establishments or was it contact? N. Reddy stated that an inspector went on site and did a spot check to verify if establishment was open they had running water and were following the correct protocol for boiling water. There were also numerous calls we had to field from residents and business owners to clarify the correct protocol for using the water. 2 M. Giordano questioned when the yearly audits for the schools take place? N. Reddy stated that every school year we inspect and ensure all students are up to date on vaccines. We have from September until June, once every school year. Most instances we have to go back multiple times when the school is not in compliance as some students are still scheduled for vaccines, etc. C. Woodward noted the tentative date for the rabies clinic is November 7th and questioned whether we should move it back to the DPW or keep in at park where it was last year? M. Giordano questioned if it was dark at the park? K. Hillringhouse stated she thinks the park was a good location; it was just unusual that the number were low this time around. Board members preferred the location at the park. C. Woodward will confirm with vet and administration office. Walking Wednesday club will be put on hold for the time being. When we reintroduce will need to more organized and have representation for the community members. With no further questions a motion to adjourn was made at 8:00 by M. Giordano and seconded by R.
