Town of Wallburg, North Carolina Town Council Meeting - Wallburg Town Hall 8020 N. NC-HIGHWAY 109 TUESDAY 7:00 P.M. January 9, 2018 2ND TUESDAY OF THE MONTH MINUTES PROCEDURAL ITEMS CALL TO ORDER Mayor Allen Todd called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Present were the Mayor, Council Members, Cindy Johnson, Lynn Reece, Mark Swaim, and Mayor Pro Tem Zane Hedgecock. Councilman Steve Yokeley was absent along with Jay Wagner, the town’s attorney. The town clerk, Donna Alwine, was in attendance. After an invocation by Councilman Lynn Reece, Mayor Pro Tem Zane Hedgecock led the pledge of allegiance. MOTION FOR APPROVAL OF AGENDA Mayor Pro Tem Hedgecock made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. Councilman Mark Swaim seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. MOTION FOR APPROVAL OF DRAFT MINUTES  December 12, 2017 Regular Meeting Minutes MINUTES for the above meeting were unanimously approved on motion by Councilwoman Cindy Johnson, seconded by Councilman Mark Swaim. PUBLIC SESSION  PLEASE SIGN UP WITH TOWN CLERK/Mayor – 3-MINUTE TIME LIMIT FOR SPEAKING There were no speakers. BUSINESS TO BE DISCUSSED AND/OR ACTED UPON: No new business to act upon. REGULAR MONTHLY AND COMMITTEE UPDATES AS AVAILABLE (COMMITTEE UPDATES WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE IF MEETING WAS NOT HELD OR UNATTENDED) 1. Finance Update - Mark Swaim Mr. Swaim gave a brief update on the finances of the Town for December: CASH $ 2,345,578.87 CAPITAL FUND-First National $ 648,000.58 MONEY MARKET-Capital Bank $ 249,009.53 TAXES RECEIVABLE $ 9,523.00 DUE FROM OTHER GOVTS. $ 137,418.74 TOTAL: $ 3,389,530.72  2. Wall Home Update. No Report – Councilman Yokeley absent. Councilman Swaim checked on the home due to the freezing temperatures. 3. Town Hall Park Construction. No report – Councilman Yokeley absent – Mayor Pro Tem Hedgecock mentioned that the council should begin to think about policies and regulations for the park for the future. Being prepared with a system in place. 4. Revitalization Grant. Mayor Pro Tem Hedgecock advised that there is no report due to the holiday’s and plans to have an update for the next meeting. 5. MPO – High Point – Lynn Reece - No meeting held /nothing to report 6. MPO - Winston-Salem - Mayor Allen Todd – No meeting held/nothing to report . OTHER INFORMATION: Mayor Todd read thank you notes from Oak Grove Middle, Oak Grove High and Friendship Elementary Schools in appreciation for the grant funds. The recent Mayor/Manager was hosted by the Town of Wallburg at the Towne Centre Diner. It was well attended At 7:16 P.M.
