Town of Wallburg, North Carolina Town Council Meeting - Wallburg Town Hall 8020 N. NC-HIGHWAY 109 TUESDAY, 7:00 P.M. August 08, 2023 2ND TUESDAY OF THE MONTH MINUTES PROCEDURAL ITEMS CALL TO ORDER Mayor Allen Todd called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. Present were the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tempore Zane Hedgecock, Council Members, Mark Swaim, Lynn Reece, Steve Yokeley and Cindy Johnson. The Town Attorney, Jay Wagner was present along with the Town Clerk, Donna Alwine. After an invocation by Councilman Mark Swaim, Councilman Steve Yokeley led the pledge of allegiance to the American flag. MOTION FOR APPROVAL OF AGENDA Councilman Lynn Reece made a motion to approve the agenda. Councilwoman Cindy Johnson seconded, and the motion passed unanimously (5-0). MOTION FOR APPROVAL OF DRAFT MINUTES  July 11, 2023 - Regular Meeting Minutes MINUTES for the above meeting were unanimously approved on motion by Councilwoman Cindy Johnson, with the attendance correction of the minutes from the June 13, 2023 meeting. Councilman Mark Swaim seconded, and the motion passed unanimously (5-0). Public Session – No Public Session New Business – No New Business REGULAR MONTHLY AND COMMITTEE UPDATES AS AVAILABLE (COMMITTEE UPDATES WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE IF MEETING WAS NOT HELD OR UNATTENDED) 1. Finance Update – July 31, 2023 CASH $ 1,769,246.11 CAPITAL FUND-First National $ 815,468.05 MONEY MARKET-Capital Bank $ 248,741.07 MONEY MARKET-First National $ 1,929,786.17 COVID Fund Account $ 732,290.60 Wall Home Checking $ 478.51 Town Park Checking $ 2,394.33 Cash on Hand $ 211.00 TAXES RECEIVABLE $ 7,879.00 DUE FROM OTHER GOVTS. $ 199,355.00 Prepaid Expenses $ 49,011.00 TOTAL: $ 5,753,895.84 2. Wall Home Update – Councilwoman Cindy Johnson advised that the genealogy class was successful and plan to have another one at a later date possibly in the evening time. 3. Town Hall Park Construction – Councilman Steve Yokeley advised that the Davidson County Health Department is over three months behind to get a perk test for the Hwy 109 property. 4. MPO – High Point – Councilman Lynn Reece advised no meeting held. 5. MPO – Winston Salem – Councilman Mark Swaim advised that he was unable to attend but reviewed the packet and there was nothing directly involving the Town of Wallburg. 6. NC DOT Hwy 109 Project – The town clerk will reach out to see the status of the contract for the town to execute. OTHER INFORMATION: The council appreciates the excellent job by Sherif Simmons and his team at the Sherifs Department in regards to working to control the parking lot burn out situations.
