Town of Wallburg, North Carolina Town Council Meeting - Wallburg Town Hall 8020 N. NC-HIGHWAY 109 TUESDAY 7:00 P.M. January 09, 2024 2ND TUESDAY OF THE MONTH MINUTES PROCEDURAL ITEMS CALL TO ORDER Mayor Allen Todd called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. Present were the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tempore Zane Hedgecock, Council Members, Cindy Johnson, Clyde Lynn Reece, Steve Yokeley and Mark Swaim. The Town Attorney, Jay Wagner was present along with the town clerk, Donna Alwine. After an invocation by Mayor Pro Tempore Zane Hedgecock, Councilwoman Cindy Johnson led the pledge of allegiance to the American flag. MOTION FOR APPROVAL OF AGENDA Councilman Steve Yokeley made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. Councilman Lynn Reece seconded, and the motion passed unanimously (5-0) vote. MOTION FOR APPROVAL OF DRAFT MINUTES  December 12, 2023 – Regular Council Meeting Minutes MINUTES presented above were approved unanimously by a motion made by Councilman Steve Yokeley, seconded by Councilwoman Cindy Johnson. (5-0) vote. PUBLIC SESSION There were no speakers during the public comment period. BUSINESS TO BE DISCUSSED AND/OR ACTED UPON: No New Business to be acted upon REGULAR MONTHLY AND COMMITTEE UPDATES AS AVAILABLE (COMMITTEE UPDATES WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE IF MEETING WAS NOT HELD OR UNATTENDED) 1. Finance Update – December 31, 2023 Mark Swaim gave a brief update on the finances of the Town: CASH – Checking First National $ 2,263,544.06 CAPITAL FUND-First National $ 817,663.23 MONEY MARKET-Capital Bank $ 249,409.42 MONEY MARKET-First National $ 1,949,022.79 COVID Fund Account $ 734,261.88 Wall Home Checking $ 578.51 Town Park Checking $ 3,841.93 Cash on Hand $ 211.00 TAXES RECEIVABLE $ 8,149.00 DUE FROM OTHER GOVTS. $ 205,033.00 1 Prepaid Expenses $ 49,011.00 TOTAL: $ 6,280,725.82 2. Wall Home Update – Councilwoman Cindy Johnson read the report given by the Curator at the Wall Home. “December was a record-breaking month for visitors to the Wall Home. Everyone enjoyed the Christmas decorations. The big hit was The Elizabeth Henson Dollhouse which was also decorated for Christmas. The family of Elizabeth Henson will be visiting the Wall House on Saturday, January 26 at 2 pm to view the refurbished dollhouse. This will be our “official” opening of the exhibit. All of you are invited to attend and meet Mrs. Henson’s Family. I’m excited to see great things happen at the George Wal House in 2024. Submitted by Donna Smith, Curator 3. Town Hall Park – No Report – awaiting on architect 4. MPO – High Point – Did not meet. 5. MPO – Winston Salem – No current update – meet January 18th. 6. Hwy 109 DOT Project – engineering stage underway at the present time, no current report. OTHER INFORMATION: Mayor Pro Tempore Zane Hedgecock reported that the historic log cabin that was donated to the town and previously approved has been delivered. It is drying out and being stored. The logs consist of chestnut and pine and are in good shape. Mayor Todd, along with Mark Swaim attended the Davidson County EDC meeting. The EDC is looking to partner with local Community College.
