VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE CREATE WAUNAKEE COMMITTEE MEETING Zoom Webinar July 9, 2020 6:00 PM Meeting Minutes CALL TO ORDER Erin Moran called the meeting to order at 6:03 P.M. ROLL CALL Present: Erin Moran, Sean Reimer, Katie Lowery, Natasha Lutes, Silvia Guerin, Deb Nies Absent: Jessica Pagel, Melanie Trainor-Burton Also Present: Todd Schmidt, Kylie West, Jeff Skoug, Gay Strandemo, Sara Goga MINUTES 1 Approve Minutes for June 11, 2020 Motion by Katie Lowery, Second by Natasha Lutes, to approve the minutes from the June 11, 2020 Create Waunakee Committee meeting. Motion Passed. For: 6, Against: 0, Absent: 2 PRESENTATIONS 1 Presentation by Sarah Goga RE Waunakee Area Artist & Crafter's Market Presentation given by community member Sara Goga RE Community response to the new Facebook group she created. Intends to create advertising posters to place around the community and poll members on how the page is working for them. CW will continue to help promote the site via our Facebook page. NEW BUSINESS 1 Creative Directory & Asset Inventory Review Discussion only. No action taken. Kylie & Natasha to connect RE CW Facebook page and promoting/reviewing business directory. 2 Sub-Committee Project Updates a) Be the Change Wall – New chalk wall installed on South Street to promote community response on topics listed. Will take a rag down so committee members who happen to see derogatory or hateful things can remove them. b) Chalk Walk (Jeff & Jessica) – No Calk Walk this year- doing “Chalk the Kee” instead  where participants will decorate areas in front of businesses over a week long period and submit pictures. There will be contests/prizes for various age groups and categories. c) Live From The Park (Jeff & Katie) – Event has been cancelled for this year. d) Culinary Promotion (Deb & Katie) – Letter was sent to area restaurants to gauge interest in different events and responses were received back from 4. May hold off on follow up due to current pandemic and see what can be done including the 4 that responded. e) 150th Anniversary Celebration (Silvia, Todd, Jeff, Sean & Deb) – Letter was sent out to various groups RE community coordination and responses were received from over half. Follow up to non –responding groups was done this week, hoping to get meeting scheduled before end of July with community partners. f) Cultural Awareness (Silvia & Natasha) – Working with the WNC to promote cultural awareness events called “Building Connections” first is scheduled via ZOOM for July 23rd. Still working to set up interviews with community members RE Waunakee is Home interviews. g) Art on Main (Kylie & Mel) – Butterflies are on display along Main Street. Want to encourage people to take selfies on Main Street with hashtag #ButterfliesOnMain. Auction details are pending due to cancellation of Wauktoberfest event. h) Innovation Center Collaborations (Mel, Erin, Natasha & Todd) – Still unable to use the center due to Pandemic but have had community members interested in helping with programming when space is able to be used again. i) Imagination Celebration (Jess & Sean) – On hold due to pandemic, will resume planning in the future. j) Open Mic Events (Gay & Sean) – Began hosting “Covid Conversations” though the Library and would like to move forward to other types of Open Mic events. k) Committee Member Profiles (Erin, Todd & Kylie) – Erin will follow up one more time with committee members who have not provided information for bios. l) WRAP (Kylie & Gay) – No update. Waiting to secure a date at the Library before moving forward with remaining planning. 3 Open Discussion on Other Committee Interests and Ideas Discussion only. No action taken.
