VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE CREATE WAUNAKEE COMMITTEE MEETING Zoom Webinar October 8, 2020 6:00 PM Meeting Minutes CALL TO ORDER Erin Moran called the meeting to order at 6:03 PM ROLL CALL Present: Erin Moran, Katie Lowery, Joel Lewis, Natasha Lutes, Silvia Guerin, Sean Reimer Absent: Matt Abrahamson, Melanie Trainor-Burton, Jess Pagel Also Present: Todd Schmidt, Kylie West, Gay Strandemo PUBLIC COMMENT There was no public comment MINUTES 1 Approve Minutes From September 10, 2020 Meeting Motion by Joel Lewis, second by Katie Lowery, to approve the minutes from the September 10, 2020 Create Waunakee Committee meeting. Motion Passed. For: 6, Against: 0, Absent: 3 PRESENTATIONS 1 Presentation by Amy Jo Dusick of Schumacher Farm Park Amy Jo Dusick, Park Administrator for Schumacher Farm Park presented to the group about the background of the park and various events that are held. Ideas for collaboration include cross posting events at the farm on the Create Waunakee Page and collaboration during specific events or use of the rental space for Create Waunakee events. NEW BUSINESS 1 Sub-Committee Project Updates a Be The Change Wall/Plaza Project (Todd, Joel & Kylie) Questions were answered for the Waunakee Public Arts Committee, waiting to hear on the extent of their desire to be involved. b Culinary Promotion (Katie & Joel) Waunakee Can We Cook events have been a good success and working to schedule more events and work with the sub-committee.  c 150th Anniversary Celebration (Silvia, Todd, Jeff & Sean) Meetings beginning, and rotary is begging to plan for logo contest and will have an advertisement for the 150th in their Rotary in Lights book. d Cultural Awareness (Silvia, Natasha & Joel) Waunakee is Home series continuing and getting great feedback. Next series of 3 is being scheduled now. Working to find more interviewers to assist with the series. e Art on Main (Kylie & Mel) $3,900 raised at auction, pieces being assembled next week for artist pick up. 2 pieces went unsold and will be donated back to artists or to the place of their choice. f Open Mic Events (Gay & Sean) Library events have been going well, Sean & Gay will connect to discuss more projects and event ideas. g Committee Member Profiles (Erin, Todd & Kylie) Erin is continuing to work on this. h WRAP (Kylie & Gay) WRAA is taking over the support of this event, working on details for sign up etc. so WRAP 2021 will still be happening in Waunakee and promotion will begin when we have more direction from WRAA. 2 Open Discussion on Sub-Committee Work Groups and Project Ideas Halloween Costume Contest in underway being promoted by Village Center Spreadsheet for committee ideas is in google docs to be used between meetings. Joel has a recipe sharing page on Facebook once he has it organized will share it on the Create Waunakee page. Should consider an e-mail newsletter featuring information and upcoming events – Todd and Kylie to look at capabilities within civic plus.
