VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE Parks and Recreation Committee September 7, 2016 The September 7, 2016 Parks and Recreation Committee meeting was called to order by Gary Herzberg at 5:45 pm. PRESENT: Gary Herzberg, Chris Zellner, Phil Willems, Dave Jost, Susan Brown and Brian Malich. ALSO PRESENT: Sue McDade - Community Services Director, Bill Frederick – Public Works/Parks Superintendent, Rick Moran – Public Works/Parks Forman, and Jeff Skoug, Recreation Supervisor. MINUTES A motion by Phil Willems/Dave Jost to approve the minutes of the July 6, 2016 and August 3, 2016 was approved unanimously. OLD BUSINESS 1. Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan – Discussion/Recommendations The committee discussed and prioritized the proposed park projects to be included in the COPR Plan. No final action was taken. NEW BUSINESS 1. Consider Permit for Fitness Programming in Village Park by Anytime Fitness - Waunakee A motion by Susan Brown/Dave Jost to approve the Permit for Fitness Programming in Village Park by Anytime Fitness – Waunakee was approved unanimously. 2. Consider Waunakee Lin’s Club Proposal for Hogan Road Skate Park Members of the Waunakee Lion’s Club appeared before the committee to present their plan to adopt the Hogan Road skate park as their “Centennial Legacy Project” as a part of the Lion’s International 100th Year Celebration. They are proposing to help maintain the existing park by painting/refinishing the skate park equipment, cleaning up the grounds on a bi-annual basis, purchasing a new park sign and potentially adding benches, bike racks and trees. They also asked the Committee to consider re-naming the park “Lion’s Park”. A motion was made by Phil Willems/Dave Jost to approve the Lion’s Club request to adopt the skate park property as their Centennial Legacy Project for 2016 and into the future. The motion also included a recommendation to the Village Board to name the park “Lion’s Park”. The motion was approved unanimously.
