VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE Parks and Recreation Committee September 3, 2025 The meeting was called to order by Sam Kaufmann at 5:30 p.m. PRESENT: Sam Kaufmann, Chris Zellner, Bob Khouri, Tim Luttrell, John Pomeranke, Phil Willems, and Erin Moran. STAFF PRESENT: Sue McDade – Community Services Director, Bill Frederick – Director of Public Works, Ryan Endres, Public Works/Parks Superintendent; Jeff Skoug – Recreation Supervisor, Janelle Reinke – Public works/Parks Crew Member, Courtney Morehart – Recreation Coordinator. ALSO PRESENT: Blake Theisen and Katie MacDonald – Parkitecture + Planning. Ken Thue – 1128 Ireland Drive, Greg Flock – 1213 Water Wheel Drive, Brian, Tiffany & Brittany Nickel – 1132 Ireland Drive, Laura Diltz and Jenny Grace – 1216 Water Wheel Drive, David Hubbard – 1136 Ireland Drive, Renee & Steve Furrer – 1214 Water Wheel Drive, Justin and Terri Hart – 1138 Ireland Drive, Katherine Wodajo – 1130 Ireland Drive. MINUTES A motion by Chris Zellner/Phil Willems to approve the minutes of August 6, 2025, Park and Recreation Committee meeting, was approved. PUBLIC COMMENT There were no public comments on non-agenda items. BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Update on Water Wheel Park – Wetland Delineation Study and Public Input Session The team from Parkitecture + Planning shared a recap of the Wetland Delineation Study – with further conversation to be held with the DNR and CARPC about development restrictions that may need to be considered in final park planning. The Parkitecture team also led a conversation with the committee and neighbors on their ideas for park plans. Public comments were collected by written comment cards, dot-voting on picture displays and general conversation with attendees. No action was taken on this matter. Park and Recreation Committee Minutes – September 3, 2025 – pg. 2 2. Consider naming the Plaza at 710 South Street (Waunakee Neighborhood Connection/Waunakee Food Pantry) Peace Plaza. Motion by Sam Kaufnabb/Phil Willems to approve the naming of the recently updated front plaza of 710 South Street “Peace Plaza”, was approved.
