VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE SUSTAINABLE WAUNAKEE AD HOC COMMITTEE MEETING 201 N Madison Street November 20, 2024 6:00 PM Meeting Minutes CALL TO ORDER Chair Runge was absent. Lauren Dietz called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. Ashmore motioned to appoint Zitzelsberger as the interim chair. Seconded by Weber. Motion passed 6-0. ROLL CALL Present: Joe Zitzelsberger, Nila Frye, Linda Ashmore, Julie Baldwin, Carly Eaton, Kylee Griffin, Mike Weber, Tom Wilson (arrived at 6:12 p.m.) Absent: Kristin Runge, Isak Drangstveit, David Ross Also Present: Lauren Dietz, Emily Soderberg (MSA Professional Services) PUBLIC COMMENT There were no public comments. BUSINESS ITEMS 1 Discuss and Take Action on a Kickoff Meeting for Sustainability Plan Emily Soderberg from MSA Professional Services introduced herself and the MSA team assigned to the project. Members went around the table and did introductions. Soderberg then went over the anticipated timeline, and led a brainstorming activity to develop initial visioning for sections of the plan. No motion 2 Discuss and Take Action on the Meeting Time of the Sustainable Waunakee Ad- Hoc Committee Staff heard from 10 of 11 members about their availability. The two unanimously open dates were the first and third Tuesday of the month. Motion by Frye to change the meeting time of the Sustainable Waunakee Ad-Hoc Committee to the first Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. Second by Eaton. Motion carried 7-0. 3 Discuss and Take Action on Event Updates and Plans Staff recommended inviting Tim Herlitzka from Waunakee Utilities to present about sustainability at Utilities and the feasibility of electric charging stations. Staff updated the Committee on coordinating with the Police Department and the Waunakee Community Cares Coalition to put up materials borrowed from Dean Health and provided by Mike Weber regarding the Gone for Good campaign for medication disposal. Staff displayed the materials at the October 26th drug take-back event at the Waunakee Police Department. There was a recommendation from the group to add an update from the High School student members to keep up-to-date with the student initiatives. Eaton suggested the Committee recommend joining Wisconsin Local Government Climate Coalition. Staff will make it an agenda item for the next meeting to recommend to Village Board. ADJOURN Motion to adjourn by Wilson. Seconded by Ashmore. Motion carried 7-0.
