Waunakee Area Fire District 401 West Second Street Waunakee, WI 53597-0472 June 2022 Fire District Meeting Minutes June 27, 2022 The Regular Monthly Meeting of the Waunakee Area Fire District was called to order by Chainnan Jim Pulvennacber. Roll call showed in attendance: Jim Pulvermacher, John Cuccia, Gary Endres, Nila Frye, Phi] WilJems, Chief Dave Kopp, Asst. Chief Gary Hansen, Capt. Brian Adler, and Renee Meinholz. Compliance with Open Meeting Laws: Chairperson asked ifwe were compliant with Open Meeting Laws, and it was detennined that we were. Meeting Minutes: A motion was made by Nila Frye and a second was made by Gary Endres to approve the March 2022 Meeting Minutes. Motion Carried. Bills: A motion was made by Phil Willems and a second was made by Nila Frye to approve the May 2022 bills as presented. Motion carried. Old Business: A. Old Engine 2 - Chief Kopp shared that the old Engine #2 was sold online through Wisconsin Surplus in the amount of $19,610.00 and the ladders were sold separately in the amount of$360.00. A deposit was made into the district's truck account in the amount of$19,970.00. New Business: A. Insurance Premiums - Chief Kopp informed the board that district's insurance was recently renewed. The Commercial Package cost $23,425, up from $22,974 in 2021. The Accident & Sickness cost $3,785, down from $4,053 in 2021. B. AudioNideo Upgrades - Chief Kopp shared the department's desire to upgrade the audio/video equipment in the meeting room. The proposal includes a new "smart'' television, speakers, wiring, etc. The cost for the upgrade would be just over $5000. A motion was made by Chairperson Pulvermacher and a second was made Nila Frye to allow the department to spend up to $6000.00 from the district's Electronic Equipment account for the upgrades. Motion passed. C. 2022 Fire Calls - Chief Kopp informed the board that the department's number of calls is up 49% from this time last year. 368 calls are the most the department ever responded to in a year, and we are currently on pace for 475 calls in 2022. The additional number of calls is creating staffing problems for the volunteers, and we are looking at solutions to improve the department's response. Other Business: Fire Inspector's Report: Capt./lnspector Adler shared the May 2022 fire run report. Next Meeting: July 25, 2022 @ 6:30pm, at the Waunakee Fire Station.
