NEW BUSINESS:
1. 108 Hart – 100 Year Old Demolition Application
a. HPC reviewed submittal packet and staff memo recommending approval; questions or
comments solicited; Katie Ortwerth commented that due to changes over the years there is
very little of the historic left to preserve; Mike McClorey moved to approve based on staff
recommendation; Bill Stancil seconded motion; motion passed unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Future HPC Projects – Continued dialog about potential HPC projects for the new year, discussion
of agenda topics, and review of HPC's existing research packets distributed by Mara Perry. Mara
Perry presented the online web version of the historic walks which can be created using our GIS
mapping system. City staff could use help with creating the base data for the map from the printed
walks; and gathering photos or other historic information to add to the online walk. Discussion
centered around making all the historic walks into digital online maps. There could be additional
online “walks” created about Joybuilt, Lustron or Sears Kit homes. Bill Stancil asked about whether
Tuxedo Park could still be a future project. Discussion about taking that on in the future with the need
for so much resident buyin.
2. Discussion of "At Risk Property List" and Historic Inventory Sheet – HPC members inquired about
bringing the 100 year and older list for a discussion at the next meeting. A definition of what
constitutes “at risk” should be defined by the Commission. Staff will look into an option of how these
could be mapped for Commission members to go look at older homes in the City that have yet to be
designated.
3. Other Business – There was a reminder about the Boards and Commissions Holiday party. City
Councilwoman Laura Arnold discussed the Town Hall meeting and commented that the four question
survey is still open. It was also discussed that any budget requests needed to be discussed at the
next meeting to submitted to the City Council.
Doug Stanley moved to adjourn the meeting; motion was seconded by Mike McClorey and passed by
unanimous vote.
