CALL TO ORDER Chair Cleveland called the meeting to order at 6:15 pm. Jane Cleveland, Dr. Kristy Lund, Dr. Rachel Eidelman, Robert Bushey, and John Wash were present. Dr. Sergio Guerreiro arrived late. Carol Cohen had an excused absence. Staff present: Michael O'Dell and Ryan Harding. II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE III. REMARKS BY COMMITTEE CHAIR Ms. Cleveland reviewed the items the Equestrian Preserve Committee (EPC) covered during the previous year. She also stated the Equestrian Competition District applications had been remanded back to the Development Review Committee and may be coming back to the EPC in the future. IV. ADDITIONS/DELETIONS/REORDERING OF AGENDA Ms. Cleveland reordered the agenda to have the Election of Committee Chair and Vice-Chair take place after the Equestrian Plan of Action Discussion Item. Dr. Eidelman added a comment from the board that some residents in Rustic Ranches are concerned about safety due to the increased horse population in the neighborhood and vehicle traffic on Flying Cow. They would like to request fencing along the west side of Flying Cow Road from Rustic Road to Norris Road or the north entrance to the park. Mr. O'Dell stated staff would add the item to the list of items to consider for the Plan of Action. V. ELECTION OF COMMITTEE CHAIR AND VICE-CHAIR Dr. Lund made a motion to nominate Ms. Cleveland as Committee Chair. Dr. Guerreiro seconded the motion and it passed unanimously (6-0). Carol Cohen was absent. Ms. Cleveland made a motion to nominate Dr. Lund as Committee Vice-Chair. Mr. Wash seconded the motion and it passed unanimously (6-0). Carol Cohen was absent. VI. EPC-153 Approval of the Equestrian Preserve Committee Minutes of January 17, 2017 Village of Wellington Page 1 Equestrian Preserve Committee Action Summary June 7, 2017 Mr. Bushey made a motion to approve the January 17, 2017 Equestrian Preserve Committee minutes. Dr. Lund seconded the motion and it passed unanimously (6-0). Carol Cohen was absent. VII. DISCUSSION ITEM - EQUESTRIAN PLAN OF ACTION Mr. O'Dell reviewed the items the EPC has covered regarding the Plan of Action. He asked the committee to consider if the goal of the plan is appropriate and give guidance on the milestones going forward. Staff provided a bridle trail status report. This update noted the improvements made to date are in accordance with the Council approved Equestrian Trails Circulation Plan. The committee recommended the goal of the Plan of Action should focus on a balance of supporting the equestrian industry with supporting the equestrian lifestyle. VIII. STAFF COMMENTS There were no staff comments. IX. BOARD COMMENTS Dr. Lund stated she met with Village Engineer Tom Lundeen and the meeting went well. She added that the village is very open to helping residents with their projects and she is happy with the shift toward greater cooperation with residents. X.
