Village of Wellington 12300 Forest Hill Blvd Wellington, FL 33414 Action Summary - Final Monday, June 1, 2015 7:00 PM Village Hall Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Liz Stockton Dr. Jeffrey Zipp Anthony Forgione Dr. Samuel Falzone Michael Pignato Christopher Fleming Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Action Summary - Final June 1, 2015 I CALL TO ORDER PR15-006 SELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR A motion was made by Mr. Wenham, seconded by Mr. Pignato, nominating Dr. Falzone as Chair of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. There being no other nominations, Dr. Falzone was elected Chair. A motion was made by Mr. Forgione, seconded by Mr. Pignato, nominating Mr. Wenham as Vice Chair of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board. There being no other nominations, Mr. Wenham was elected as Vice Chair. II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA There were no changes made to the Agenda. III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES PR15-007 APPROVAL OF MINUTES FEBRUARY 23, 2015 A motion was made by Mr. Wenham, seconded by Mr. Forgione, and was unanimously passed by the Board, approving the Minutes of the February 23, 2015 Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting. IV. PRESENTATION PR15-008 TENNIS GRAND OPENING Mr. DeLaney invited the Board to the new tennis center grand opening as well as the Community Center demolition/groundbreaking ceremony. PR15-009 STAFF UPDATES Mr. DeLaney advised the Board of the upcoming K-Park meetings that are designed to gather input from the public. He also briefly explained the trends report compiled by the department. A copy was distributed to the board members. Mr. Boyd gave a brief description of the new rain out line. Mr. DeLaney updated the Board on the Land and Water Conservation Fund grant. Preliminary results indicate the Village will be awareded $200,000 for the Community Center Project. Final word will come after submission of final paperwork and review. Mr. DeLaney also informed the Board that staff has met with the organizers of the Blind World Series to possibly host the event in 2017 at Village Park. PR15-010 UPCOMING EVENTS Mr. DeLaney informed the board of upcoming events including Amphitheater Village of Wellington Page 1 Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Action Summary - Final June 1, 2015 events, the Veterans Open House scheduled for June 4, Make a Splash at the pool scheduled for June 6, Fathers Day Run on June 21, and the July 4th event. V. OLD BUSINESS VI. NEW BUSINESS VII. PUBLIC COMMENTS VIII. BOARD COMMENTS Board members each thanked staff for the work they have done and were appreciateive of moving programs around due to the Community Center project. Everyone was encouraged to attend the community meetings for K-Park. IX. CLOSING COMMENTS X.
