II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Dr. Falzone led the Pledge of Allegiance. III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved as presented 7-0. IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES PR-064 Approval of Minutes - 6-4-18 Mr. Forgione made a motion to approve the minutes as presented from the June 4, 2018 meeting and Mr. Bueno gave the second. The minutes were approved 7-0. V. PRESENTATION PR-065 Surtax Project Update Mr. DeLaney gave an update on expenditures to date for surtax program projects including the Greenbriar Park and Southshore Park projects as well as renovations at Village park. Dr. Falzone asked to clarify that all expenditures so far have been within budgeted amounts and Mr. DeLaney confirmed that they were. Mr. Fogione asked if there would be further expense for the playground project in Village Park and Mr. DeLaney explained that the project had been closed out and there would be no further expense. Ms. Shockley made a motion to accept the expenditure report and that all expenditures were in line with the intended purpose of the surtax program. Mr. Bueno gave the second and the motion passed 7-0. VI. STAFF UPDATES PR-066 Staff Updates Mr. DeLaney gave an update of upcoming events including the Lakeside events, World Peace Day, Green Market opening day and Fall Festival. He also mentioned November events including the Murder Mystery and Veterans Day. VII. NEW BUSINESS PR-067 2019 Florida Recreational Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) Grant Applications Mr. DeLaney explained the Village intended to apply for two FRDAP grants for the upcoming cycle. The 2019 Florida Recreational Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) announced the due date for their regular application cycle. FRDAP focuses on the acquisition or development of outdoor recreational facilities. They will be accepting application through October 15, 2018. Wellington is applying for two projects: 1. Discussion of 2019 Florida Recreational Development Assistance Program grant application in the amount of $50,000 for the improvements to Greenbriar Park’s volleyball courts. 2. Discussion of 2019 Florida Recreational Development Assistance Program grant application in the amount of $50,000 for the improvements to Village Park’s dugouts and additional playground sails. Mr. Bueno made a motion to approve pursuit of both FRDAP grant applications and Ms. Shockley gave the second. The motion was approved 7-0. IX. PUBLIC COMMENT X. BOARD COMMENTS Mr. Forgione asked if traffic in the Palm Beach Point/Aero Club area as part of the planning for the Greenbriar Park project. Mr. Barnes explained a traffic study had been done and that depending on volume a turn lane could be considered as an alternate option if necessary. Mr. Bueno said he was happy to be a part of the board and is looking forward to working with everyone. Mr. Christmas asked about the status of the fields with new seasons opening. Mr. DeLaney explained that field space was being managed well. He further explained that some adjustments were made to better accommodate Lacrosse and Rugby. Dr. Falzone announced with sadness that Mr. DeLaney had announced his retirement. He declared that the programs and facilities in Wellington would never have grown to current levels without the effort and dedication of Mr. DeLaney and that the Village should recognize his many accomplishments.
