PSC-055 APPROVAL OF AGENDA An agenda for the January 25, 2017 regular meeting has been provided for your review and approval. IV Approval of Minutes A. PSC-056 APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 28, 2016 REGULAR MEETING Attachments: 09.28.16D The last meeting of the Public Safety Committee took place on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 beginning at 7:00 p.m. The minutes of that meeting are attached for your review and approval. V Reports A. PSC-057 STAFF REPORT Ed De La Vega will introduce Paulette Edwards, the Village's new Neighborhood Services Director. Ms. Edwards will be taking over the role of liaison for the Public Safety Committee and will provide an update on current and upcoming public safety related items and community events from the Department. She will also respond to Committee questions or concerns. B. PSC-059 PALM BEACH COUNTY FIRE RESCUE REPORT Battalion Chief Mike Arena of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue will provide an update on current happenings as well as reviewing the most recent Response Time Reports. PBCFR will also present a cardiac arrest scenario to the Committee. C. PSC-058 PALM BEACH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE REPORT Captain Silva and Lt. Shaivitz of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office District 8 Wellington will provide an update on current crime trends and statistics along with a brief overview of the most recent Strategic Review Report from November 2016. PBSO staff will also respond to questions or concerns related to public safety matters. VI New Business A. PSC-062 PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION BY SUSAN KLARICH, PhD -- TOO GOOD FOR DRUGS PROGRAM At the request of PBSO, Ms. Susan Klarich, PhD is in attendance to address the Committee. Ms. Klarich is very knowledgeable and can provide information on the Too Good for Drugs program. The educational programs are geared for grades K thru 12 and are designed to reduce the risk factors related to the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. Ms. Klarich will also briefly discuss the growing heroin epidemic and be available to respond to questions. Ed De La Vega, Director for Purchasing for Wellington, in coordination with a representative of Westway Towing, Inc., will present information related to a proposed exclusive contract for emergency towing services between Wellington and Westway Towing, Inc. This is being provided for informational purposes only. No action by the Committee is necessary.
