II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Ms. Schwartz made a motion to approve the agend and Mr. Nebb gave the second. The agenda was approved unanimously. III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Nebb made a motion to approve the minutes as presented and Ms. Kastner gave the second. The minutes were approved as written. SAC15-035 Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes - November 10, 2016 IV. PRESENTATION SAC15-037 Kids for Seniors Presentation Gia Antanucci from Kids for Seniors gave a brief presentation about her organization. Her organization provides young volunteers who will visit seniors for companionship to combat the growing problem of lonliness of seniors. Gia won a Disney grant to help fund her program and to grow chapters around the country. Mr. Trager asked if they have thought of expanding to other communities. Ms. Antonucci's mother explained that they are working with Wellington Cares to find other ways to expand the effort. Mr. Trager also suggested that welfare calls would be helpful as well and Ms. Antanucci agreed. SAC15-036 Education Committee Presentation Marcia Hayden from the Education Committee was on hand to talk about how Seniors can be involved in Wellington schools. She indicated that volunteer efforts are to go through the Palm Beach County Schools volunteer coordinator or the local school volunteer coordinator. All volunteers must undergo a background check. Ms. Hayden also talked about the Foster Grandparent program through the Area Agency on Aging. This program is a more formalized program and works primarily with younger school aged children. The program also includes training and a small stipend for travel. Mr. Nebb asked if volunteers replaced paying positions and Ms. Hayden assured him it does not. Mr. Trager asked if there was information available. Ms. Hayden said she could get Mr. Trager in touch with the people responsible for those programs. SAC15-038 Staff Updates Village of Wellington Page 1 Senior Advisory Committee Action Summary - Final January 12, 2017 Mr. DeLaney introduced Paulette Edwards as the new Neighborhood Services Director. He also indicated that the Senior Services Specialist position will transition back to the Neighborhood Services Division. Ms. Edwards expressed that she believes the idea of intergenerational activity is a key initiative in Wellington. Ms. Tuckwood gave a presentation on programs and events offered through Senior Services. She gave updats on the very successful Hometown Holiday Food Drive. She also talked about the various outlets the division is currently using to distribute information about programs. She also talked about upcoming Senior Symposiums and Good For You Seminars as well as the STAR program. V. OLD BUSINESS VI. NEW BUSINESS VII. PUBLIC COMMENTS VIII. BOARD COMMENTS All members where very pleased with the presentations. Mr. Trager thanked all of the presenters for the day. He also expressed that he was dissapointed that all of the members did not show up to the Senior Club meeting. Mr. DeLaney explained that staff would send out information concerning sunshine law. IX.
