CALL TO ORDER Chairperson, Chris Gillette opened the meeting at 2:00 p.m. II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Observed. III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Ms. Kay Brown, seconded by Dr. Charles Sandell, and was unanimously passed by the Board, approving the Tree Board minutes of March 4, 2015. IV. STAFF REPORTS 1. Recent Plantings: Brian Hopper updated the Tree Board on recent plantings with location and number of trees planted. He also distributed a “Tree Planting” list (A Treemendous Effort to increase Wellington’s Canopy) which documents trees planted in Wellington from 2013 to present date. 2. Recurring Agenda Items – Brian Hopper reviewed the Recurring Agenda items and all Tree Board members agreed they liked the list of items. V. OLD BUSINESS Brian Hopper updated the Tree Board on how many seedlings and plants were given away, Tree Board members that attended the event and activities. VI. NEW BUSINESS A motion was made by Ms. Debbie Evans, seconded by Ms. Linda Haunert, nominating Mr. Chris Gillette as Chairperson of the Tree Board. There being no other nominations, Mr. Chris Gillette was elected Chairperson. A motion was made by Mr. Chris Gillette, seconded by Ms. Linda Haunert, nominating Dr. Charles Sandell for Vice Chairperson of the Tree Board. There being no other nominations, Dr. Charles Sandell was elected Vice Chairperson. Village of Wellington Page 1 Tree Board Action Summary June 3, 2015 VII. COMMENTS Resident Lisa Ferrano discussed the spraying of the canal bank (C-9) last year and how she was concerned about her plants that may have been affected by the pesticide spraying. She also discussed the possibility of planting low-growing native plants that would support pollinators and wildflowers and how plantings prevent erosion. Ms. Ferrano distributed a Resolution to support the conservation of wildflowers for the protection of pollinators in the Village of Wellington, FL. VIII. ADJOURN There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 3:33 pm. NOTICE Village of Wellington Page 2
