REGULAR MEETING
A. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gracyalny, Vice Chair at 4:01 p.m.

C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. 17-00217 Minutes (draft) November 8, 2017
A motion was made by Ms. Hart, seconded by Ms. Wolfe that this matter was Approved.

D. NEW AND PREVIOUS MATTERS
2. 17-00222 Financial Report - Devan Gracyalny, Vice Chair/Treasure.
Mr. Gracyalny reported a total of $4,753.25 in the budget as of November 30,
2017. It was brought to the attention of the committee that on Friday morning,
December 15th at 9:00 a.m., additional soup packets were being put together with
proceeds to benefit the Historical Commission. Anyone who is available to help
on Friday is welcome to attend.
A motion was made by Mr. Nazer, seconded by Ms. Wolfe, that this matter was Approved. The
motion carried by the following vote:

E. MATTERS FOR DISCUSSION/ACTION
3. 17-00228 Report from the West Allis Historical Society.
Discussion ensued. Mr. Gracyalny spoke on the successfulness of the Open
House and that the Women's Club donated cookies.
4. 17-00235 Status Reports - Historical Commission Projects and Activities.

Mr. Gracyalny shared that he contacted a consultant about assisting with the
assessment on the condition of the Log Schoolhouse.
Ms. Wolfe shared that the 4th graders from Franklin School visited and had a
great time setting up the Christmas tree with Mayor Devine.
B. Seneca Station
Mr. Mueller stated that the Christmas lights are up at the Seneca Station.
C. Settlers Weekend
Mr. Gracyalny is looking for $5,000 to help fund Settlers Weekend. He inquired
if funds could be accessed from the Tourism Commission funds. Mayor Devine
responded that he was not sure of the legality of this and Mr. Gracyalny should
check with Ms. Grill, the City Administrator. Mr. Gracyalny also mentioned that
the Community Improvement Foundation will match a contribution of $3,000.
5. 17-00238 Log Cabin Rededication - 20 Years.
Mr. Gracyalny shared that an informal committee meeting took place on
December 4, 2017. The date for the Log Cabin Rededication was selected for
Wednesday, May 16th with a 5:30 p.m. Social Time and 6:00 p.m. short Program
time. It was also mentioned that Mr. Gracyalny would like to meet with the
Communications Department to help advertise the event. He also wanted to make
sure that the West Allis Charities and other major donors are recognized. The
committee is also looking to get the Boy Scouts involved in this event. If wine and
beer are served, a permit would be needed.
6. 17-00239 2018 Goals and Objectives.
Mayor Devine mentioned that the property off of S. 88th St. & W. Greenfield Ave.
be considered for the National Register. Barb Hart would like to see the
dedication of signs on the light poles along S. 76th Street for Kopperuud Park.
Also, a detailed sign at Kopperuud Park is needed. Another suggestion was
coming up with a Social Media strategy. Mayor Devine shared with the committee
that Sarah Fonaas was being appointed as a Commissioner to the Historical
Commission, replacing Karen Mikolajewski who moved out of the City.
F. ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Mr. Nazer, seconded by Ms. Wolfe to adjourn the meeting
at 4:57 p.m. The motion carried unanimously.
