REGULAR MEETING
A. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Barb Hart at 4:03 p.m.
B. ROLL CALL
Present 5- Ms. Barbara Hart, Ms. Sarah Fonaas, Mr. Ray Nazer, Mr. John Noll, and Ms. Patricia Wolfe
Excused 2- Mayor Dan Devine, and Mr. Devan Gracyalny

C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. 18-00071 Minutes (draft) January 10, 2018
Attachments: 1-10-18 Minutes
A motion was made by Ms. Hart, seconded by Ms. Wolfe, that the minutes be approved. The
motion carried by the following vote:
Aye: 5- Ms. Hart, Ms. Fonaas, Mr. Nazer, Mr. Noll, and Ms. Wolfe

D. NEW AND PREVIOUS MATTERS
2. 18-00072 Financial Report - Devan Gracyalny, Vice Chair/Treasurer.
Mr. Mueller reported a balance of $5,992.46.
A motion was made by Ms. Hart, seconded by Mr. Nazer, that the Financial Report be approved.
The motion carried by the following vote:
Aye: 5- Ms. Hart, Ms. Fonaas, Mr. Nazer, Mr. Noll, and Ms. Wolfe

E. MATTERS FOR DISCUSSION/ACTION
3. 18-00073 Report from the West Allis Historical Society.
The Historical Society still has 2 openings on their Board of Directors. Eileen
Clines resigned from her position of scheduling tours and Ed Wilkomen, who
published the newsletter, passed away. The Board will be meeting on Monday,
February 19th at 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Nazer inquired if the West Allis Players would be able to use the Historical
Society Park. Discussion ensued regarding permission and fees being required

from the City of West Allis Public Works Department.
Ms. Hart will put together a basket from the West Allis Historical Society for the
West Allis Community Dinner Dance.
4. 18-00074 Status Reports - Historical Commission Projects and Activities.
A. Log Schoolhouse
Discussion took place on setting up a meeting with Eagle Restoration to evaluate
the condition of the logs on the Log Schoolhouse.
B. Seneca Station
Nothing to report.
C. Settlers Weekend
A subcommittee meeting was held several weeks ago. The Commission is close to
matching the required $3,000 fundraising goal for the 2018 Settlers Weekend.
D. Historic Preservation Grant
Mr. Mueller spoke to Mr. Joe DeRose of the Wisconsin Historical Society. Mr.
DeRose indicated that the federal funding for the grant is tenuous for 2018. He
will know more in early March.
E. Social Media Updates
The Historical Society website is up and running. Jenny Kosek, Communications
Specialist, is working with Mr. Gracyalny and the Intern from the Historical
Society on updating their main page.
5. 18-00075 Log Cabin Rededication - 20 Years.
Mr. Gracyalny, Ms. Kosek, Ms. Hart & Ms. Jeannette Bell met to discuss a game
plan for the rededication. The group will follow up later this week to work on
invitations. The goal is to have the invitations mailed by the 2nd week of March.
They are also working on catering and obtaining Honey Creek Brew from
Westallion Brewing Company for the event .
F. ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Ms. Wolfe, seconded by Ms. Fonaas to adjourn the meeting
at 4:25 p.m. The motion carried unanimously.

All meetings of the Historical Commission are public meetings. In order for the general public to make comments at the committee meetings, the individual(s) must
